Re: workspace
Not interesting at all. I can't make head or tails of what this is all about.
Re: workspace
Look interesting… i have a little taste of working on online development space @ jotspot.com and honestly speaking it was pretty frustrating… there were innumerable issues.. and above all it was pretty tough to debug and know where the issue is…
But it look like just an environment and if it look as easy as shown in the video then it maynot be as bad as others are. The only problem is that on working on your desktop is always going to be a lot faster than any online space. but still will be keeping an eye on it..
Thanks for sharing.
Re: workspace
pretty interesting so far.. beta is now accessible..
Re: workspace
^ Hey Ansoon... this looks quite interesting.
I'm involved in an intranet portal project where we want to do something similar.
Any chance I can get in on the sneak peak / beta ?
Re: workspace
oh, this looks neat. it would save a lot of time and even when you dont have an FTP App, you can still edit some of the files on the go anywhere, right? this looks goood.
Re: workspace
yes ejazasi, this enables you to edit any file on any ftp. We will be adding more features soon -- there is a lot more that is coming :)
Re: workspace
But you guys are saying - edit file on any FTP? how can u edit someting on public read only FTP share? U can only edit if u have write/modify rights to the file otherwise forget it.
Re: workspace
Najim, i think its understood that you can only write to the FTP where you have correct permissions.
Re: workspace
Well no matter what - I wont edit files only on FTP server - its always a good idea to keep a back up copy & edit both & then sync. But again this is all upto individual preferences.

Yea u r right the feeling of working on a desktop environment is all too different plus the sense of security and comfort is a lot more then on the online environment..
but personally speaking its looking pretty good interface. plus there r quite a few instances where u have to just make a minor change like spellings or updating a link or email or name change and other cases where this type of environment is easier to work with.
Definitely i don't think many ppl will be using it for complete extensive developmental web page work but for minor updation and creating static pages it might be a very good thing, to have it all the time accessible.
Re: workspace
we have about 1000 users currently using it. This sandbox release is just stage 1 of our development. There are a lot of features that are on the radar and being implemented. Details will be posted on the blog soon :)
