Workplace dynamics - younger boss, older staff

When it comes to hiring and managing people, are there potential issues/concerns with hiring people older than you for more junior positions?

  1. If the person used to be in a more senior position before?

  2. If the manager is a woman and the new hire/junior staff is a man?

And please, please don’t throw timatars,

  1. 1 and 2 + the man is desi?

I do believe that a young/female senior will have alot of trouble.

Re: Workplace dynamics - younger boss, older staff

at the end of the day,

a. no one is forcing anyone to work at a certain position, everyone is free to find better placement if they feel they deserve it.

b. there is a reason paychecks are called "compensation." if the price is right, it is easy to stay professional putting aside some of the vanity and ego-bruising.

Women do not have the necessities to be managers. They don't have sufficient buoyancy.

He said that about African Americans at that time.

Re: Workplace dynamics - younger boss, older staff

I have 8 subordinates under me, all older than me and much more experienced. Similarly, my line manager/boss is a female who is 1-2 years older than me. No issues at all although this is in Pakistan in government sector.
