working women

do u all wear make up to work? ok this topic has been discussed and shreaded to pieces but im bringing it up once again

my family reckon i look like a slob when i go to work (i do not agree :snooty: ) they insist i wear make up to work, but its been over a year since i did that and now i feel yukky in foundation

any other alternatives?

sadzz a lot of people think you have to look your best when you go out.I kinda agree with that ,but you dont have to wear make up to work. You can just make sure you’re dressed in something comfortable and stylish :halo: .

Personally make up doesnt suit me.I mean dont know, but I look so weird when I wear make up.So I usually just wear eyeliner and clear lip gloss to uni and work.

ps just saw your pic.You dont look anything like a slob.

^ thanx MQ.. i think its cus i have my hair curly and in a bun when i go to work…

for past two days ive been putting eyeliner on just so it looks like ive done something :bummer:

yeah, i personally prefer simple elegant clothes, and no make up

hair in a bun? ohfo why? You've got great hair, leave it loose sometimes.A bun is so ...severe or something.

hehe na its cus its long and curly… its a loose bun :halo: nto that bad.. and i put a pretty pin on my fringe today

sadzz i can uncerstand I hateeeeeeeeeeeeee make up , foundation n all those red, pink purple, maroon lipsticks that aunties be wearing
well, I wear eye liner most of the time, and a lip gloss with my hair down or up depending on the weather or my mood. jewelery is must for me but very plain and simple one
Remember, no matter how much make up you have on, your style is what makes you unique !!
try changing your hair style even though I think its fine and looks good on you
just dress more professional I dont think make up is an issue here

i do. but only a little. i used to only wear eyeliner and lipgloss, but have recently discovered that lipstick is useful to make me look older and more professional than the students :D. the key is keeping it minimal, so that you don't look inappropriate. focus on one feature.

hey mahnoor and sahar thanx guys.. u two have similar tastes as moi

see i get irritated with my hair out at work.. i like it all back so it doesnt annoy me

ive given up on gloss cus it usually comes off by 10am.. im gonna try changing my look now.. i think i may go shopping and lay by a suit or something.. (tomorrow u'll see me open a thread bout getting in trobule from mum)

You could always just use some mascara, blush and gloss. It usually depends on your particular field on how much makeup is appropriate but looking presentable never hurt anyone. Like the others said, don't pile it on if you feel uncomfortable. I personally love makeup and experimenting with it so i always wear some to work/school but there are no hard and fast rules.

okay.. m guilty of wearing lipstick to work :bummer: .. but it usually wears off by the end of day.. n wearing my hair down at work is a big no no … i dont think thats a professional look .. n u get kinda stirred away from the seriousness of the professional environment. .. i dont wear anything else on face .. like foundation or mascara or eyeliner wagera … i think they r just plain headache … :-/ ..

^^ the same thing here. I wear a light lipsick, also wear of the day, some time I wear eyeliner. and my hear are always tied in a bun, having loose hair is not practical at work, its not a big no no, maybe a smaller no no. I dont feel the need to have more makeup, foundation waghera at work, i feel that my lipstick is enough to give me fresh look to my sleepy face.

^ maybe i should invest in some light lipstick

i think i wanna do awhole makeover... im gonna stop wearing dull colours.. hmm actually no i'll stick to blacks and greys.. but im gonna go get a new outfit, mabye pretty earings, hmmmmmz

yes small things can make a diffrent, but you should also try the other thing, do try some other colours then grey and black. maybe some pastel colours, that also add freshness to ones face.

^^ pastel colors or dark professional looking colors like maroon, navy blue, sea green .. colors look nice on people… they wont give others the impression that u r dull … .. would look good on u too :k:

Wearing your hair down is not professional, thats news to me. I think it depends on the length if its insanly long than tie it, otherwise its not unprofessional(is that a word?) to put it down. I work in an office and i see women with their hair down and it looks nice actually, but as with anything change is good.

ummm i wear lip gloss , mascara n some times eye liner too at work :halo:…

Well Sadz, you started with your people so let me say my people are very particular about such things. You can't step out looking like a slob. NO way!

Coming to what I do... I have started using very light makeup since last few years. My mom freaks out whenever she wants to apply the lipstick or anything....yeah baby, I want all that J-Lo look. But you know what, you don't need to apply that liquidy foundation, buy that compact one (powder cum foundation, that sticky kinda thing).. you'll get that in Estee Lauder and Revelon ( this brand is relatively cheap). Get any lighter shade if you do not prefer darker ones.... there are really nice ones in Givenchy, Revelon, Calvin klein etc I don't know what sort of brands you got there in Aus.

more later abt the clothes....

If you are young, which I am sure you are 22-23 do try some darker shades of lipstick .. it looks good once in a while. I never knew I would be using red or a subtle shade of red but with age, I have started using this color.

Sometimes, color can have a wonderful impact on you and you will realize that how a change in your range/choice would lift your spirits.... its just psychological but I have seen it working at times...
