Ansoon, yes I was thinking that people will say that he/she got the job coz the spouse was the one to decide, even though the candidate would be perfect for it.
What do others think, if they see a couple working together like boss/employee situation.

duno about europe but in US, ppl with direct relationships are not put in reporting relationships to each other at work.

Apart from any legal implications that such a boss-employee relation might have, I would personally not even want to be in that kind of position. You will always have an issue explaining to others why you hired your spouse, even if you did apply purely professional criteria yourself. And that's not a comfortable position to be in.

I wouldnt do it. There are a lot of things that can come up. For example if some male coworkers are talking to you, your hubby might not like it and then there may be office politics involved.
One of my friends used to work under her hubby (in Europe) and she ended up wanting to work elsewhere.
My mom used to go to dads office sometimes to help him at work, but she didnt work under him so it wasnt so bad and it was only sometimes.

only for the sake of an instance:
so if i was managing the office of the doctor's clinic or lab, i will make sure that he gets to rest and i take on his load.
i have seen people work together in business or practice and i know, honesty will not at all mellow the relationship between the working spouses.
it does not even have to be same professional field.
either the husband or the spouse can be the main person and the other a supportive manager for the whole office.
people also value such partnerships, as they see live societal example of a harmonious couple in this way.
labor becomes a joy.
in fact, depending on how committed they are, they would find it to be bsolutely blissful to not lose each other, even for a few moments, since they are working along side each other.
one never knows, who, when and where can leave unbearably painfully unexpectedly...
