My mom was home with us when we were babies but then started working when we were able to go to school. I think it was perfect because my mom was always home when we got home. There was always an awesome dinner, the house was clean, we had a schedule, chores, etc. The good thing is, she started volunteering in our school district so she was always around if we needed her.

njgal, that's cool that your mom is an MD! did you ever have a nanny or household help? it seems hard to manage a practice with family..how did she do it?

Jalebi121 - we had nannies in pakistan and my khalas, grandparents, phopos helped out.
We never had nannies in U.S because we were teenagers and didn't need nannies and my dad step up to the plate.
I have to tha same model in the house now - my children are much younger - I work full time and the grandparents help out. No nannies. I did have part time nanny for a while my mother in law went to pakistan and hajj.
I saw my mom do it and raise great balanced children so I know it's possible for me.
