So Ramzan is coming up
How do you working ladies manage sehri? I always wake up and make fresh rotis and all when I’m fasting. But, this year I won’t be fasting myself since I’m pregnant. Husband dear will need sehri and I’m already so lethargic when I wake up in the morning, despite getting 8 hours of sleep :(.
I need tips… do I just make the sehri at night and tell him to heat and eat? Should I be getting up and making it fresh for him (Dreading that
)
What would you do in this situation when you’re not fasting yourself?
Re: Working ladies - how do you manage sehri in Ramzan when you're not fasting yourse
have him do it himself.....only if i'm already working full time myself...
Re: Working ladies - how do you manage sehri in Ramzan when you're not fasting yourse
Make it at night and tell him to heat it up. And if he wants something fresh in the morning, a bowl of cereal and milk is fresh enough :D.
Re: Working ladies - how do you manage sehri in Ramzan when you're not fasting yourse
does he like frozen parathas? they're easy to fry.
or you could semi-cook rotis with dinner and just "saik" them in the morning for freshness.
Re: Working ladies - how do you manage sehri in Ramzan when you're not fasting yourse
ask him what he wants for God's sake!
Re: Working ladies - how do you manage sehri in Ramzan when you’re not fasting yourse
Great tip.
I’m feeling bad for the poor guy, 16 hours of fasting plus a cranky preggo wife.
Yeah, I’ll have to go the heat it yourself route I guess ![]()
Re: Working ladies - how do you manage sehri in Ramzan when you’re not fasting yourse
If she is not fasting, I dont bother to wake her up. I am self sufficient enough to make something and eat and I can eat whatever I want to without hearing “apna weight daikheen roz roz sheermaal khaney ki wajah sai” type of legendary sentences! ![]()
PS: oh and then comes a call @ my work her saying “aaap nai mujhey uthaya keyun nahi main kuch bana daitee” ![]()
Re: Working ladies - how do you manage sehri in Ramzan when you're not fasting yourse
I am not pregnant infact I am not even married but I still wake up on the days I am not suppose to fast to make sehri for my brother
I don't want him to get ideas why in the world I don't fast 5 days in Ramdan
ah the things we have to do for being desi
Re: Working ladies - how do you manage sehri in Ramzan when you're not fasting yourse
Most of the time we make the sehri fresh in the morning. I usually like to have egg amlette and paratha or bread.. hubby usually likes to have paratha as well with either friend egg or yogurt.. so it's doesn't take us to long to make sehri.. This year will be different because I work from 7:30 to 6 pm (4 days) a week so ill have to go to bed around 10ish.. to get up so early!

Um.....seriously?
I'm sure if he's gone to at least high school, he understands what periods are...and if a woman cannot fast during that time..if not.... then thats just sad.

OMG! Poor you..... that never happened in my home (Thank you mom). But yeah, when I was in college all my friends had to get up at sehri time and not eat during the day (unless they could hide and eat, which is not happening if there are grandfathers in the house)

welcome back to planet earth
Re: Working ladies - how do you manage sehri in Ramzan when you're not fasting yourse
^^Yep, happens in Pakistan. The men apparently are not supposed to know so poor girls get up and pretend to fast.
Re: Working ladies - how do you manage sehri in Ramzan when you're not fasting yourse
^ Ok I can accept htat it happens in Pakistan.
But in US? Im sorry but this whole "hide the fact that we have periods from our fathers/brothers even though most of them have taken HS biology and read the Quran and can connect 2+2 etc"....erm whats the point of being educated when even something so basic and simple is a matter of "shame" and hiding yourself.
Re: Working ladies - how do you manage sehri in Ramzan when you're not fasting yourse
you can make stuff before hand and re heat it.
don't you have to get UP for FAGR anyways :)

^ exactly!!!!
When you have clear permission to not fast during those days then why should it be hidden from the men of the house? So stupid.
Re: Working ladies - how do you manage sehri in Ramzan when you're not fasting yourse
I had to do that when my brother was in elementary school. Not the "getting up" part but "pretending to be fasting" part.

You can buy packs of frozen rotis/naan/parathas (we buy the Deep brand) and you just pop em in the microwave or toaster oven. And your husband can heat the salan that you made (most likely during the day) for sehri. He can manage it himself...get your rest.
Re: Working ladies - how do you manage sehri in Ramzan when you're not fasting yourse
when pregnant, i was lucky, husband didnt want any sehri at all .. did roza without sehri.
