Working in a company with a strong employer brand ..

Do you give alot of importance to the jobs in companies that have a strong employer brand? or woud you accept a role in a company that isnt very well known?

Re: Working in a company with a strong employer brand ..

i think the name of the employer company counts alot.. and secondly... it depends how much ur getting paid and how secure your job is then the name doesn't matters at all. But a strong employer name is good for the CV

Re: Working in a company with a strong employer brand ..

I personally never liked nor applied for strong brand companies, i did feel that in those companies there is nothing for me to achieve, most of the time it is to keep the reputation of the company, whereas in new company it is a challenge to create a brand, fight with the existing brand and create space for yourself... it is sense of achievement for me, it like winning or surviving a war...

two very different views and i enjoyed reading your post in particular hanibal :@:

did you guys know that one of the purposes companies spend so much money on employer b*****ng is to bring candidates on board on compromised salaries .. for example, if normally a company pays 25000 pounds for a certain position, they will try to bring that candidate on a salary of 22K ..

I think it depends if you want to be a big fish in a small pond or a small fish in a big pond. I do like working for big brands because they usually have better pay and incentives like company car, private health insurance etc and i like that there is already a pretty solid infrastruture in place. But I have also enjoyed working with newly established companies helping to lay the initial infrastructure. I do contract work now, I have a Ltd company and am sub-contracted by a wide range of companies, this works best for me as I don't like to stay at one company too long.
