Working from home vs office

Where do you prefer to work from/at?

Home

  • save time and money
  • can get non-work related tasks done too
  • homemade lunch (I prefer to eat alone)
  • flexibility (choose work hours)
  • wake up precisely 9 am and go directly to “office”
  • wear whatever the hell you like
  • more distractions (visitors, spouse, kids)
  • lack of banter with colleagues
  • loss of regimen (less focus on the job if assignments are few)
  • work day never really ends

Office = vice versa

Re: Working from home vs office

I have worked from home for long time still do once in a while.
I never saw any problems or issues with working from home or going to office.
All the pros and cons depend on your line of work.

Re: Working from home vs office

I have a lot of experience in that area. I helped many people who wanted to work online – unemployed, students, people who want just a little bit extra, stay at home parents… If you are serious about making money online, let me know. I am looking for some motivated people, who have a desire to step to the next level. I am not talking about making some pocket money.

Re: Working from home vs office

If you are highly skilled an highly productive you can still achieve personal and professional growth. You output is used for evaluating your worth. You can use all the tools available to you for promoting or selling yourself. You do not have to be in the office every day to achieve this.

Re: Working from home vs office

I prefer working from an office. Working from home is alright for a few days but not something I'll go for, as a routine.

Re: Working from home vs office

I have been working from home for almost 7 years now and I sorta concur with @Mirch. You can grow personally and professionally, but you cannot go up the ladder. You need to build relationships and alliances to move up, specially in management. There are a lot of conversations that take place in the coffee room or over lunch, that kinda clues you in on who is important and who wields real influence. You miss out on those when you work from home.
