Has anyone worked for a non profit organization? If so…please share your experience…
Re: Working for a non-profit
I worked for a non profit, it was a privately owned not for profit, which acted as a for profit in every way possible in terms of business plans, budgeting, sales, marketing, finance, except instead of shareholders it just had a board that kept an eye on overall performance and the proceeds were reinvested into the organization for its future operations and innovation etc. I was there for 3 years and in general enjoyed it, the only issue I had was that there were people who had been there for ages and did not want to adapt and were dragging everyone down.
Re: Working for a non-profit
I too have worked in a Not for Profit company … Adaptability and acceptance of change was a major issue as X2 mentioned ..
I think the work environment wasnt very competitive .. the processes were long and dragging … it could be just that one organization , but after having worked in it , even public sector started looking attractive ![]()
I think it largely depends on your priorities, Its ok to work in , if you are not expecting to make some good money via increments, performance bonuses etc … or you are intentionally looking for an easy 9-5 kind of a job with lesser pressure to achieve targets … Not for Profit cant give you experience that will help your career in any way … so maybe its more helpful when you are just wanting to keep yourself busy with the routine work ![]()
