Working during Ramadan

Will you be working full time during Ramadan? Do you find it difficult, especially if there’s a lot of physical work involved? Do you accompany your colleagues to the cafe when fasting?

Re: Working during Ramadan

Yes and on on the second question.

That is one of the points of Ramzan and fasting; giving up one of the most important things to realize how it feels to not have it.

Re: Working during Ramadan

Yes , I work full time . The only physical work I do is treadmill , I do it right before iftar. I will not go to cafe or bar with co-workers , they already know that it is month of fasting and I am fasting so they will not invite me. They look forward to me bringing some goodies at the end of Ramzan.

Re: Working during Ramadan

I would go and sit with the guys during breaks, could be a coffee break, or lunch..where we relax and chat. there are working lunches and all. People know I am fasting but I ask them to do what they need to do and that seeing them eat or drink is not going to be an issue. Its my test and my challenge, not theirs, and they can be sensitive to it, but not at the expense of what needs to get done.

Re: Working during Ramadan

It does take getting used to, some days you just don't feel like working and would rather just mope around.

Re: Working during Ramadan

Yes working and insha''allh be fasting. Btw..ramadan kareem to all of you and your families!

Re: Working during Ramadan

Fair play to ye for working long hours while fasting in this heat. I chickened out and decided to take some time off because I get migraines very easily. It is roasting inside the labs, I get dehydrated very quickly so I better stay out. And yeah I accompany friends to lunch too, it doesn't make me hungry or anything. They do feel apologetic that they're eating infront of me but I assure them it isn't an issue whatsoever. Xtron, khair mubarak!

Re: Working during Ramadan

Yes, I'll be working full time. Its hard but I did it last year and the year before. The only problem I have is I get thirsty very quickly as my job involves so much talking but they are very understanding at work. Also I don't go have lunch with my collegues but instead go and sit in the common room and read. This can be hard as I miss out on the socialising aspect of lunch and also the yummy free food but you get used to it!
