H1bs are issued are 3 years and can be renewed for another 3 years. To renew the H1b after 3 yrs, does one need to go back to his/her country of origin?
Is it possible for a company to sponsor its employee for permenant residency within the first 3 yrs, meaning before h1B is expired?

If the original H1B is stamped in the Passport, then you can just mail your Passport and the 2nd H1b approval to INS (Name is now changed, dont remember new name) service center in Missouri, and they will stamp the H1B and mail back the Passport to you.
Yes and not only that you can even have multiple applications, for eg If your company is sponsoring you, you can have your spouse and kids as dependents, at the same time if your spouses company is sponsoring her, she can also list you and kids as dependents.
