Some of us moms were trained in professions that can’t really be pursued at the moment while we are having kids or raising young ones.
Maybe we can discuss some options that would be good for us to get some adult interaction as well as break the montony of cooking, cleaning, feeding, laundry and playing. It’s great but gets Boring after the 50th time…

there is whole lot of things that one can do, for instance online assignments/Article writing jobs are there, part time teaching/tutions etc, home base business like cooking food and selling it, plus designing and selling clothes etc.

Depending on your qualifications or skills, there is a lot of jobs you can do online. Even learn new skills sometimes for Free!

I have seen my mom doing knitting , crochet work , cross-stitch , sewing , making decoration pieces and what not and at 60+ (masha allah) she still does all this work . Almost all of her loved/dear ones have been gifted a crochet table set made by her and everytime there is a new variation in it. I personally feel all this is very satisfying and probably if I ever have to be a home maker/manager/engineer I might do the same stuff most likely I would do glass/fabric painting.

Same way I feel gardening is such a beautiful thing to do. All such things brings out creativity , make us use our brains and all the hard work is ultimately paid-off in the form of a beautiful art work.

I recently came across a lady who grows organic herbs and veggies at home and sells them, also sells salads made of fresh home produce.
Home tuitions to kids/students

another option is to learn makeup/hair cutting/henna application some other parlour services and and set up a space at home and work part time. Some ladies I know have hired girls to do services like threading, waxing, etc and they do the makeup, hair cutting themselves part time.

I tutor from home. It’s a great source of income and keeps me up to date with subject/ exam content. Otherwise I think I would be insane by now!!

I know a lot of people who have cake making businesses and are making a lot of money.

Oh and another lady I know with little kids works as a customer care representative from home. Calls to the helpline get directed to her cell and she responds to emails and SMS queries from home.

Same this is in Pakistan, but I would presume the US with its huge economy would have ample work opportunities for stay at home mums

As others have said, making hand made stuff and listing it online. I’ve been thinking of listing some of my paintings online. Its not really for money, but just to keep busy . Customer service from home and online tutoring is also something that i have seen people do.

I started a small photography business on the side. I have a 10 month old and a 3 year old ..

If you look online - there are companies that hire people to work from home as customer service reps.

Are you talking about actually working from home for added income or just something to get out of the rut and have some “me” time or adult interaction? Remember, even working from home is hard when you have little ones because you still have to “be on the clock” for home based jobs. It can be tricky with toddlers underfoot. I have a friend who does online ticket sales for American Airlines from home, and she does the night shift 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm, so that her husband is home in time for her to log on and work.

If it’s just adult interaction you’re wanting, then look into a book club, volunteer opportunities, or maybe doing some alterations from home or catering/cooking.

Many home based jobs require you to be in a quiet space, separated from noise, with a work station of your own, etc in order to be hired.
