Word "Paindu"

I read it and hear it quite often during the discussions “uff that is so paindu or he or she is paindu”. The purpose is mockery or sometimes even insult. In my opinion it is insult to people living in deehats or Pinds, refering to them as inferior to us city dwellers. I think to myself why this notion that “shari or urban ways” are better more worthy of respect? I hope next time we will think before speak.

there are many people here who are from villages , if you take it in a right way then it is not insult, it is just a topic for funny discussions

take it easy buddy

Re: Word "Paindu"

Yes it can be seen as a tease, and it is often used to taunt someone. Literally the term means someone fresh out of the village, and more often than usual someone who's unaware of the urban ethics and/or manners. This can be equivalent to FOB/Freshy.

Re: Word "Paindu"

Well I do use it to mock someone. Thats the whole point of it. If you are old fashioned and do no understand the aesthetics of say...a modern day watercooler...then you are a paindo in my book. just an opinion though. :)

Re: Word "Paindu"

When the word first came about, it was meant to be insulting towards people living in Pinds. However, the word has evolved and so now when people use it they don't even think of the reference it makes to villagers.
