WOOLMER'S MURDER/BODY RELEASED

Re: WOOLMER’S MURDER

What a jack ass. I hope he gets reprimanded for making such moronic comments. If he was any sort of a man, why did he not make such comments when he was alive? Absolutely pathetic.

Re: WOOLMER'S MURDER

While I am 100% with you on Razzaq being out of line here, there's no safen haven for players (serving or retired) when they go public over controversial things/issues. If Razzaq or any other player were to pass such comments against Woolmer (when he was alive) or a fellow player that would still not go down well with the public (i.e. us) or the media. We would all I am sure be accusing him of indiscipline/bickering/inciting infighting/badmouthing (call it what you will) So there's really no way out. Keeping your mouth shut and putting a lid on things is the only option as I see it.

Re: WOOLMER'S MURDER

herez the latest update **

Inzamam, Younis asked to come back to Windies**

New Delhi: Pakistan cricket players Inzamam-ul Haq and Younis Khan along with assistant coach Mushtaq Ahmed have been asked to return to Jamaica in connection with the murder investigation of coach Bob Woolmer.

The Jamaica Coroner's office has sent an official communication to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) requesting them to send Inzamam, Younis and Mushtaq to the West Indies before the inquest into Bob Woolmer's death begins on April 23.

Sources told CNN-IBN that Kingston Coroner Patrick Murphy has sent the letter to the PCB, although the PCB has denied receiving any such letter.

Murphy will hold a full hearing, complete with live testimony from as many as a dozen witnesses who were in the process of being summoned to appear.

Woolmer was found unconscious in his hotel room on March 18 and declared dead a few hours later. Just a day earlier in one of the biggest upsets of the World Cup Pakistan lost against minnows Ireland.

The toxicology report of Woolmer indicated that he was poisoned before being strangled in his hotel room.

According to a source close to the Jamaican police, the investigators probing in Woolmer's mysterious death believe the South African was poisoned to incapacitate him before murdering him in his Jamaica Pegasus Hotel room.

Pakistan has also send two police officers - Mir Zubair Mahmood and Kaleem Imam - to help in the investigation.

They joined four Scotland Yard investigators and two forensics experts from Interpol, the France-based International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol).

No they won’t - hold on not too fast..

Pakistan team may not return for inquest
published: Thursday April 19, 2007

There is uncertainty as to whether members of the Pakistan team will return to Jamaica to give evidence at the coroner’s inquest into the death of their coach Bob Woolmer.
The coroner’s inquest is scheduled to get under way at 10:00 a.m. next week Monday at the Conference Centre, downtown Kingston.
The police have so far collected 20 statements in connection with the inquest and some are from members of the team.
Summonses have also been served on a large number of jurors to attend for A member of the Coroner’s Court staff told **The Gleaner **that about eleven jurors will be selected to sit on the panel.
The jury will hear evidence and determine whether anyone is criminally responsible for Woolmer’s death.
Court reporters from the have also been assigned to take verbatim notes of the proceedings.
Meanwhile, Carol Palmer, Permanent Secretary in the Justice Ministry, yesterday outlined the procedures for the holding of the inquest.
Addressing a press conference, she explained that the Jamaica Conference Centre was selected to allow for the accommodation of members of the public and the media who are expected to attend.
No tape recorders
She warned that neither video cameras nor tape recorders will be allowed during the sittings of the inquest.
Mrs. Palmer has also advised that persons attending the hearings are expected to be properly attired and will be subjected to searchesby security personnel.
The coroner’s inquest was ordered after a post-mortem on the body of the late Pakistan cricket coach revealed that he was strangled.
There have also been reports that he may have been poisoned.
In the meantime, a second team of investigators left the island yesterday for Grenada to interview persons who were at the Jamaica Pegasus hotel when Mr. Woolmer was killed on March 18. On Monday, a 15-member team, led by Deputy Superintendent Colin Pinnock, left for Barbados to interview other persons there.

Inquest Into Woolmer Death Postponed

The inquest was scheduled to start on Monday, but it is understood that officials want to delay it until the World Cup in the West Indies has finished.
Jamaica is due to host one of the semi-finals on April 24, and it was felt it was inappropriate for the two events to take place at the same time.
Woolmer was found unconscious in his hotel room in Kingston, Jamaica, on Sunday, March 18, the morning after Pakistan had been eliminated from the tournament following a shock defeat by Ireland.
Jamaican police said his death was being treated as suspicious two days later and two days after that said that the 58-year-old had been strangled.

** Meanwhile, members of Ireland’s squad have supplied statements, fingerprints and DNA to investigating police.
The tests were carried out at the team hotel in Grenada on Wednesday after Ireland had played their final match in the tournament against Sri Lanka.
A statement said: "The Ireland management and players have co-operated fully with the police, and are happy to assist them in any way we can during the course of their investigation.**
** "These tests were carried out with a view to eliminating the Ireland squad from their enquiries.**
"We would like to stress that on the evening of the Woolmer murder, no member of the Irish squad were actually in the hotel.

‘CCTV footage reveals likely suspect’ - Report](http://content-uk.cricinfo.com/woolmer/content/current/story/291759.html)

The investigations into the murder of Bob Woolmer, the late Pakistan coach, are reported to have reached a significant breakthrough with a likely suspect being identified through footage from the hotel security camera. According to a report in the UK-based The Independent, detectives from Scotland Yard and a team of 30 officers studied the digitally-enhanced footage and the suspect was understood to be a male, though police were unable to confirm his identity.
“The cleaned-up images from London show at least one individual of considerable interest to the inquiry,” a source close to the investigation told the paper. “The time of the footage and its location mean that this individual must be considered a suspect. Further work is being done on statements given by individuals to look at any inconsistencies. It is good progress.”
Woolmer was found dead in his hotel room in Jamaica on March 18, a day after Pakistan’s loss to Ireland, and though the cause of death was determined, the authorities had struggled to develop lasting leads in the murder case. There was speculation that Woolmer may have been poisoned first before being strangled, as a toxicology report stated that samples taken from his blood, stomach and urine had shown the presence of a foreign substance.
An inquest into the murder was scheduled for April 23 but had to be postponed owing to ‘significant developments’ into the case. Twenty witnesses were due to provide evidence but a statement from the Jamaican justice ministry on Thursday said the hearing would be postponed following advice from the coroner.

Re: WOOLMER'S MURDER

Wonder who?

Re: WOOLMER'S MURDER

Man...I wish they find the dude who did this fast. Out here at York, god damn indians are having a field day tellin everyone its Inzamam or Mushy. Morons.

Re: WOOLMER'S MURDER

The found him:

His name is Lee Harvey Oswald.

As I said month ago, Its gonna be some local goon who will get the blame. This murder will also become a cold case file shoved in the file cabinet where other mysterious cases lie.

Even if the killer is a high priority person (i doubt its a cricketer), it will never be made public. Darn Indians, they just make noise - They have been for last 60 years. Let them, Its only because they don't eat meat.

Re: WOOLMER'S MURDER

With some of the reports out today, I fear they are going to try and involve some one from the team or management.
Lets pray its not the case.

Re: WOOLMER'S MURDER

Let's wait and see who this 'suspect' is. This thing is just dragging on a bit...

Re: WOOLMER’S MURDER

This whole murder deal is getting ridiculous. The more it drags on without any leads, the more stupid theories come forward. The most outlandish of 'em all just hit the news:

**Snake venom may have killed Woolmer - reports

**Cricinfo staff
April 23, 2007

The former Pakistan cricket coach Bob Woolmer may have been drugged with snake venom, according to the police who are investigating his death. A friend of the family said Gill Woolmer has been informed that her husband was probably subdued by a “natural toxin” which left his body by the time of the forensic examination.
Neil Manthorp, a respected South African cricket commentator, said in the English tabloid the Mail on Sunday: "I spoke to Gill and her sons Russell and Dale two days ago. The boys both said police had told their mum the toxicology results are inconclusive.
“The detective told Gill they believe it must have been a natural poison, such as a snake venom, which leaves the body fairly soon afterwards. The police theory is that this was administered to Bob in the bathroom of his hotel room to subdue him before he was strangled. The officer said that the only way to prove this was to look for tissue damage, which was why they had sent the results back to England for further testing.”
The police suspect Woolmer to have been injected with venom and not bitten by a snake, as there are no venomous snakes in that part of the Caribbean. David Warrell, the professor of tropical medicine and infectious diseases at Oxford University, who has helped police in a number of international murder inquiries, said the vomit and faeces found near Woolmer’s body were consistent with someone with venom in their bloodstream.
“Snake venom cannot be slipped to someone in a drink or food,” he said. “It also cannot be injected into any part of the body. It has to go directly into a vein, meaning this man would have had to have been held down for the 20 minutes or so it would have taken for paralysis to set in.”
