Does anyone think that recent events in Pakistan’s cricket have caused us shame and embarrassment as a nation?
Now Coach Bob Woolmer’s death, how do you think this would be viewed by rest of the world? Is this an embarrassment for Pakistan in any apsect?
Re: Woolmer's death:embarrassment for Pak?
Chup be..what is embarassing about death?
Qullu Nafsin Zaiqatul Maut...
Every living being has to die one day.
Re: Woolmer's death:embarrassment for Pak?
^ So True!!...Death is the ultimate truth for this materialistic existence.
But I think, Inzamam's timing and decision to announce retirement- immediately after the death of his Coach should be an embarrassment for Pakistanis as well as Cricket fans.
I mean, a distinguished coach like Woolmer, who served Pakistani team, died while on Duty and Inzamam can't wait???
Though Inzamam's decision is in a hurry, it projects a bad image of him.
He should have waited till next match and after dedicating that match to his coach, he should have done whatever he wished.
There are a few exceptional moments in life when a person must at least rise above self-centred thinking!
Re: Woolmer’s death:embarrassment for Pak?
I feel some where pakistani players must be feeling guilty … and Inzmam’s decision was emotional, but I dont know what else he can say to his countrymen or coach ![]()
Re: Woolmer's death:embarrassment for Pak?
I think people of Pakistan should teach their team a tough lesson like we do with our team in India coz this is not mazaak at all, i never saw woolmer saying anything bad or shouting on anyone for without any reason like chappel does he was a calm matured person, if i were in their place i would have personally gone to airport to protest my team
Re: Woolmer's death:embarrassment for Pak?
^ for once HM...you make sense.
Re: Woolmer's death:embarrassment for Pak?
Woolmer proved his sincerety! He showed the world how committed he was! Unlike the other shameless moguls in PCB.
Re: Woolmer's death:embarrassment for Pak?
Inzi is just a "bonga" please get a captain who is not a "bonga" (hard to find in current paki team)
we need to reshuffle the whole of PCB, not just the team.

I am sure Inzimam was thinking, "With Woolmer's sudden death, my name will drop out of the top news stories.... what can I do quickly to hog the headlines? Yeah, I'll announce my retirement... that'll put me back into the headlines".
Re: Woolmer's death:embarrassment for Pak?
Brahmchari, Inzi might be "dopey" as people refer to him on these forums, but he is no conspiracy theorist. I think it was a genuine decision and he wanted to take responsibility for the pathetic defeat as soon as possible. We all know our beloved jaahils in Pakistan were all set for more jaahilana harkatein (i.e. burning putlays, getting anday timatar ready, etc.).
Re: Woolmer's death:embarrassment for Pak?
His death would've been embarrassment had a Pakistani player or a fan directly involved in his death, if his death is caused by his own drinking, getting stressed out at defeat after knowing how unprofessional our players have been all this time then there is no blame on the nation IMO, yes we feel sorry for his death after a shameful performance of our team.
Re: Woolmer's death:embarrassment for Pak?
In short, yes it is

yea. why would his death be embarassing.
but other than that, all the other drama surely is

Yes, I feel that too. In case you missed it, I was being sarcastic in response to the post above.
Re: Woolmer's death:embarrassment for Pak?
getting stressed out at defeat after knowing how unprofessional our players have been all this time
Our players represent our country. He was a foreign coach. In a manner of speaking, if what you speculate above is true, its fairly darn embarrassing. Its another matter that, collectively, our sense of shame has probably gone down that the meaning of honor, privilege and commitment have lost their meaning.
Re: Woolmer's death:embarrassment for Pak?
To an extent, it might be an embarrassment to the nation. The fact that the team played so ridiculously bad and seemed like they did not give a hoot about winning the game contrasts starkly with the immense desire of Bob Woolmer to achieve success, which eventually cost him his life while the players themselves were probably watching TV or something. If Woolmer's demise was completely unrelated to the loss with Ireland, which I doubt considering how co-incidental that would be, than obviously there is nothing to be ashamed about as death is a part of reality of life itself.
Re: Woolmer’s death:embarrassment for Pak?
My apologies :k: .
Re: Woolmer’s death:embarrassment for Pak?
Read previous post again with open mind.
Just a further explanation, it’s neither about conspiracy theory nor about taking responsibility of job. It’s more about an individual’s character and virtues as a human and sensitivitiy towards family, friends.
Only Inzi knows best why he announced this within hours of his Coach’s death. Neither you nor me.
Imagine a scenario ---- Suppose a person is only earning member of his family and has a decent job.
God forbid, a family member of him expires and simultaneously he has been fired/resigned from his job on the same day.
Will he not allow his family members and himself atleast 1 or 2 days time to overcome the the grief due to loss of a person…or will he mourn his lost job along with thsi?
*Again both are possible depending upon individual’s character. It’s simply a human nature which gets exposed during these rare occasions. *
No doubt Inzi is a human before he is a cricketer!!
Come back to this case…Just assume Inzi scored a century against Zim and after Pakistan defeats Zim, he dedicates his century and match to his coach and then announces retirement still taking entire responsibility of Pakistan’s early world-cup exit as you said above. This will make much more sense, but for sure, his retirement like this will not create sensation of such a high level as it created after Woolmers death.
This made a situtaion like anti-climax or climax after climax.![]()
So called “he was eager to take responibility as soon as possible” is just an interpretation.
On a seperate note…I won’t be surprised, after a few months, if Inzi announces that he has decided to reverse his earlier decision!!
I guess, some Pakistani players have done that before!![]()
Re: Woolmer’s death:embarrassment for Pak?
This death is treated as suspicious now
It even says both Inzi & Woolmer got death threats. It may not be death by heart attack, since per news it says, he vomitted & his face was blue while body turning white, suicide? poisoned? Too many questions now.
Nevertheless - in ordinary case, seems like he was so stressed that he couldn’t bear the stress anymore. I personally liked the chap - he was very calm & nice person.
