Woolmer shortens Pak Bowler run ups

:hehe:
btw he doesn’t have any runup anymore. He used to have long runup, it got reduced with time. If he were to continue a year or more then yes his runup would have automatically matched with Iqbal Qasim’s

Iqbal Qasim had a very long run-up for spinners. I don't know why ya'll keep giving his example. I have seen Wasim bowl from two steps on a concrete pitch in NJ. He was equally fast.

I was just wondering, why does our PCB have to shout at every 'action' that this new coach is taking? Is there something PCB wants to tell us (other than "Hey, we got new coach and he is working to help us")?

It's called being positive Capt.

Woolmer is most probably THE best coach in world cricket today.

As a former fast bowler he knows what it is all about. With him, Alan Donald became "White Lightning". He knew just how to get the best out of Donald and I assume he will help in creating a new generation of Wasim's and Waqar's for Pakistan.

With him and Hansie Cronje (a strong captain), they build South Africa into an ODI team that even the Ausies feared. Which other team could show an almost 80% win result over at least 5 years against ANY other team?

If Pakistan can stick with Woolmer, Pakistan will become a world-beater.

I also am waiting to see Woolmer changing Imzamam into a Jonty in field work.....

Woolmer was primarily a batsmen with a little gentle medium pace bowling thrown in. He was never a top notch bowler. He certainly is one of the best coaches in the world. As for turning Inzi into Jonty, apart from Allah no one else can acheive that feat. :D

It pisses me off when not so well informed people make fun of Inzi's fielding. I have almost never seen him drop a catch, his throws from the boundary or from short covers are fast and accurate as missiles. Just because he is big and slow runner between the wickets doesn't mean he is slow as a fielder.

This is the way I look at it:

Key Issue: Curb extra runs due to no-balls.
Solution: Shorter Run-ups: Check!

Key Issue: Sustain energy and prolong bowler’s efficacy.
Solution: Shorter Run-ups: Check!

Key Issue: Optimize over rates
Solution: Shorter Run-ups: Check!

I know its too business like for me to analyze it this way, but hey objectively, it makes sense.

I agree. Only think is that He being Fat cannot chase ball if it is racing to boundry. But He is brilliant close in fielder. Can be best utilized in Slip, Short Cover, Point etc. He has good reflexes.

It was just a joke fungo, not meant to be taken TOO seriously. Inzimam isn't the most mobile, but he's one of the best slip catchers in the world and yes he has a very safe pair of hands.

I know Mr. PhD in Humor but it was a very weak analogy and I've every right to ridicule it.

Hard to tell against Bangladesh but both Shoaib and Sami bowled pretty well off short run ups. It looks like it needs a bit of fine tuning but for a first match the results were encouraging with Shoaib bowling 10 overs for 30 runs and picking up 3 wickets.

so much for bowler run ups,. eh?

Be natural.

^ Shoaib bowled with full run up against Sri lanka and so did Sami. Hence the extras were high as before.

^^

i am :konfused:

then why didn’t both bowled as Woomler told 'em to do so?

Score demanded full aggression from Shoaib and as he will take time to settle with his new run up, he might have asked woolmer to allow him to bowl full throttle.
