We have so many designers in Pakistan, there’s a sudden boom of designer these days - but i was wondering that do designers like HSY, KARMA etc who charge so much..earn all that considering the fact that most of the Pakistani lot probably copies the designs and pay half of what they charge or cant afford even that..huh?
Re: wondering..
lots and lots of middle to upper middle class and above pakistanis only buy their stuff "designer"
Re: wondering..
b/c they cater to people who actually CAN afford their stuff and are willing to spend the money for good quality. There is no doubt that HSY, Maria B etc have better quality clothing and design than the galli-wala would, but it's really what someone can afford. There's nothing wrong with going with the galli-wala dont get me wrong, but I personally don't know anybody from here who would buy designer etc...

you have to flip thru to look at the designs…she doesnt have much on her website…but i visited her boutique in dallas…totally blown away by her stuff…i wish i could have taken pictures of all her collection…her formals range from $350 and up…
bridals $3500 and up…
saris $600 and up…(embroidered)
i fell in love with her color coordination…material selection…and ofcourse…the kind of painstaking work she has done on it…
btw i saw tons of HSY…Karma…Nilofer shahid…(i met her in dallas at her fashion show…such a sweet woman)…the worst was HSY’s…his embroidery was very 'kangoosly" done…and material was alright…Karma was awesome…their bridals were $2500 and up…
but of course…Mahnaz swept me away…!! ![]()
Re: wondering..
oh and regarding the question...well...designers charge you for their creativity...taste...and yes...their name...i agree..some of their prices are ridiculous..but you can always bargain to make it look less painful........ :)
Re: wondering..
but y r designers soooo rude? ![]()
n can anyone give me idea abt. maria.b’s lehngas? the range… i went to her outlet at jinnah… but the lights went out… too bad ![]()

Re: wondering..
what abt. ATYAS?
i went there twice.... i liked the duppattas which were in the shop
Re: wondering..
No im not in islalamabad.
well her party dresses costs around 30,000.
and i think if you want something simple for nikkah/engagement then it should be around 1 lakh if its lehnga.
Dont forget to bargaining because it should work a little bit at least!
share your experience when you have been there. Best of luck

Well the designer wear is ofcourse marketted towards a certain section of the society and i bet they earn lots of money just by that section :). Thats why the designers prices are sky rocketting because what they make is exclusive and not for everyone.
Re: wondering..
why does the model on that website you posted (http://www.hz-productions.com/photoshoots/1/) chanda, look so flippin’ sleepy? ![]()
im jealous you got to see karma’s dresses in person. i think im coming to dallas just to check them out. did you see any non-bridal outfits from karma? cos i’ve already been there, done that and i’m thinking now im going to need “sister of the groom/sister of the bride” type of clothes. boooo! i should be obnoxious and show up in a bridal anyway ;p
ooohhh, i love that pale grey (or is it pink?) suit with the split front, and heavy gold embroidery… but the fitting on the model is horrible. i’d do it sleeveless with a way more fitted shirt and nicer pants.
Re: wondering..
haha! yeah she does!! :)
oh and they dont have karma outfits at the store....someone from lahore had brought them to the fashion show....so did HSY's...but nilofer had come herself...since she was the guest of honor.......and presented the award to Mahnaz auntie...(Life time achievement award in fashion...)....Mahnaz auntie had done clothes for tipper gore...Tina Ambani (was at the event)..the clintons....and Gov. Rick Perry's (Texas) daughter..who got married to a pakistani guy...and what not..
She wasnt rude AT ALL...!!
Re: wondering..

Re: wondering..

the splited style looks good loose......since its a retro design...i guess...it wont look as charming if it were tight and all...but yeah i agree about the sleeves......the model is toooo skinny though... :)
