Women's right to lead mixed-gathering prayers

Re: Women's right to lead mixed-gathering prayers

For me the most interesting part of the whole discussion is not necessarily the permission/prohibition of women leading the prayers. Knowing what I do about Islam and differences of opinion on almost every topic under the sun, its a safe bet (no pun) that you can find/interpret on both sides of the issue.

What I find remarkable is the assertion that over centuries muslim women have been lagging in intellectual and spiritual progress because they can't offer namaz in the front row. Mind boggling. Yet so simple. Vah!
