So whenever you listen to most of the lectures by scholars why they always talk about wife’s rights? What about sisters, mothers, daughters? Men are qawaam over women & that means to all women in their family not just wives. But mostly what i see is they only mention wives rights & forget that other women in different relationship has rights too.

Why scholars are more focused on wives rights? Why no one mentions sisters rights over brothers? mothers rights over their sons? daughters rights over their father?

Like I am a sister & daughter, do I have to cook for my father & brothers? Is it not my right to say no too? & if I say no they have to hire domestic help else they will cook themselves as its not my responsibility? Cuz religiously speaking it is mentioned in ahadees that wife doesnt have to cook for her husband & she can say no.
Can a sister & daughter say no too? When you listen to scholars they always mention wives & how they have right & dont talk about sisters, mothers & daughters.

to be honest, if it’s about subcontinent.. then Saas is the main problem to bend all the light/attention towards “rights of wife”.. I dont want to hurt anybody.. I mean there are so many good families out there.. but the reality is that it happens.. so I am saying it in general..

Ok so, when it comes to saas-bahu thingy, it’s always the bahu’s rights which are mostly violated.. because a mother always want her daughter to live like a queen in her house after marriage, but she dont accept bahu as queen or even daughter.. “yehi almiya hai hamare muashray ka”.. the day mothers start accepting DILs as daughters, there will be almost peace everywhere..

and answer to your second part is.. Islam is all about kindness, caring, brotherhood & mutual understanding.. Everyone have his/her duty to fulfill.. If she refuses to be a part of the family and households then how can she expect good from her father and brother in return?? it’s father’s/brother’s right to be treated well by their daughters/sisters too.. man & woman are equal in Islam and have equal rights.. let me make it easy for you with a short sketch of a story of our beloved Prophet (PBUH)..

Once Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) came home after pasturing the cattle and saw Hazrat Fatima (R.A) grinding/pulverizing wheat grains.. Hazrat Fatima (R.A) was feeling pain in her hands, there were sores bcoz of the handle of the heavy turnplate of grinder.. it was very tough work then.. Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) saw it and said.. “Fatima tum ye na samajhna ke tum Nabi ki beti ho to tumhara imtehaan asaan hoga”..

so, if She (R.A) can do it, then why cant others..

This is the only lecture of Nouman Ali Khan I found which actually addressed this issue, even though the title of this video by the uploader is responsibilities of husbands & wives as by default its fed in desi minds that its only wives whose rights should be fulfilled & other women just dont have any rights.

Allah said “men” are qawaam over “women” & not just husband over wife. By men & women it can be any relationship brothers & sisters, fathers & daughters, mothers & sons … Its men responsibilty to provide & take care (what comes under that category is a different discussion altogether) of the women while women has to be obedient & protect her dignity.
