Since when did you become the Dalai Lama of Islam?
We are not meant to mould Islam to our prefrences, we are meant to mould ourselves to Islam.
Nobody in my family wears the face veil anymore but they have done in the past and we do consider it a part of the religion even if we are too weak to practice it...
We are Sunni Muslims and as far as I know amongst the Sunnis most scholars are of the view that covering the face is neccesary, there is also a minority opnion that it is only preferrable/optional and not neccesary but none of the classical scholars were ever of the view that covering the face has nothing to do with Islam.

Please tell me where in the Quran it states to cover your face?
It says to cover your head with a hijab.
