Memsaab, Why do you think women can not visit graves? there is no reason for women to be any different than men, I realy want to know the reason why women can not visit graveyard....
forget abt what shias or sunnis say abt it....do u find any reference for this in quran or hadeeth saying that women are not allowed to visit graveyards....so i suggest that u stop believing in the stories....
in early days of the Prophet (saw), women were stopped from visiting the graves because they used to vociferously wail and cry -- a practice which was rampant among women in Arabia at the advent of Islam.... once the women had learned to restrain themselves at such places, they were allowed to visit the graveyards.....it was a directive given by the Prophet (saw) to deal with a particular situation and was withdrawn once the required end was achieved.
women can visit the graves of their dead relatives...the only thing they need to take care of is that they should try not to create a scene there... ofcourse, this does not mean that they cannot cry; it only means that they should not exceed the limit in this regard...the same applies to men as well...

Sher, i dont know if we're allowed to go, some people do, alot dont.. i just needed to clarify if someone had some solid information.
I don’t know specific Shia or Sunni rulings on this issue but all I can say is ( and others can correct me on that) that it is forbidden to wail at gravesides and is disliked by Allah and his Messenger :saw: . And since women tend to this a lot, they are discouraged from visiting the graveyard.
