Re: Women Rights In USA

well state of cali is in US and so is south dakota, so when u say US laws we can talk state by state.

ghalti thread khol kar naheen hui, but what is the topic here, I mean are we talking women’s legal rights as the thread initially started or are we talking social issues.. make up your mind, if its both thats fine, but I hate being in discussions where ppl jump on tangents left right and center. what does gay marriage have to do with women’s rights? and what does “bill to allow to marry a …” mean here. My question is very simple…you can take it personally and bail or you ca realize that you are all over the map so how can anyone even have a discussion.

Re: Women Rights In USA

Re: Women Rights In USA

if we are to do social comparison, why cannot we compare the good things?

injustice against women is in all societies. the gravity, severity and the apathy with which some societies or some individuals treat the issue, is the core factor due to which the bad name is begotten. what we can do, is to reassess the norms, rights and the obligations, the fulfillment of fairness principle, and eliminate internal and external stereotypes in regards with the contextual need for justice across the spectrum. a woman is a woman is a woman, be it white, black or brown... the bad society is bad is bad is bad, be it un-Islamic or Islamic.

women, themselves, will have to take it upon themselves to teach and train the men in their lives to deal with them respectfully. in the same breath, breach of trust either way, must be not be absolved. a sinner is a sinner is a sinner. but, even Allah forgives, so who are we to put our values based on our doctrines, our value judgments. some people are in a situation, they themselves are not bad, they just need to know that they are respected and they can be changed, although they must change out of their own accord.

human race is based on the basic need of survival and propagation. but, if there is an imbalance in the relationship of the prime agency of women and men, then of course we have a flaw in the system. legal rights in the social and private conduct of anybody, must follow the guidelines of morality and transparency. there should not be any room for half criminals. those who mistreat women, deserve the punishment that they deserve.
it is a societal problem.

we justify actions of our selves and others, based on what the instant needs are or maybe and we lose sight of the long term consequences of overlooking a claim, of not addressing a wrong. in order to live peacefully and comfortably, with autonomy and respect for each other's right to dignity, we must stop neglecting, condoning and or covering such a grave issue in the community, like domestic violence. it is up to us, how and with what we begin to solve it, intelligently, decently and in a fair manner.

^ Dushwari, I posted an article on the founder of Turning Poin, Rubina Niaz in this forum :)

Re: Women Rights In USA

Hi Sara516,

awesome. did not see that. but, that is very nice of you. Yes, Robina Niaz is great in her example. the work is community oriented and has a lot of power in strenghtening Muslim women and portraying that DV is an issue in the community and must be catched and addressed.

we might as well look at this as well.

Oct 19th, at QMA, is the first event organized by the young org.
anyone interested, welcome to join.
