Women Only

Re: Women Only

Whats better?

To know you do atleast something good?

Or to know you’re not doing anything good?

Re: Women Only

i wear complete hijaab even in functions, and feel very comfortable. my this deed is only for my ALLAH’s will, but my cousins are too modren they are not like me.

Re: Women Only

This isn't a thread to pressurize others. It seems as though this thread has been opened to find out who observes hijaab and who doesn't. Therefore, please keep it simple.

To answer the initial quesiton, yes, I have been quite regular in covering my head. However, I haven't been so consistent in wearing jilbaab/abaya. I usually wear it to college and somtimes outside as well.

Re: Women Only

^ But jilbab/abaya isn't really necessary, if ur clothes r loose/long enough to cover you. I would think abaya is just more preferable and comfortable since u can wear whatever underneath and not worry about anything :D

Re: Women Only

Sara, from what I have read and understood, women are supposed to draw a cloak (some sort of cloth) over their general clothing. Jilbaab/abaya are well-established and easiest form of clothing that could be worn over general clothes.

In addition, the reason why I mentioned abaya/jilbaab is because I consider it to be part of complete hijaab.

Re: Women Only

^^ OMG

By the way, what’s the difference between these two?

Jilbab for head while abaya is all over???

Sorry I know this is supposed to be the “Ladies thread” but sometimes I get questions asked about it from my non-muslim coworkers / friends as well..

Re: Women Only

Yes, blitzy it's true, if you waer abaya, u can wear watever u want underneath, provided ur abaya doesn't blow up on windy days and show off ur thong :P but i've seen grlz wearing beautiful abayas and underneath they had a big baggy teeshirt, sneakers, jeans.. on hot days, they'll be wearing tank tops and linen pJs.. it doens't really matter wat u wear under.. i mean u can wear regular clothing, jeans, teeshirt, skirt, dresses, watever, as long as they're loose and modest.. ive never herd a cloak being mandatory..

Re: Women Only

jilbab refers to the acutal article of clothing, like the burka, or headscarf/veil... the act of covering yourself, with clothing and modifying your behavior as well, is "hijab"..

Re: Women Only

I observe hijaab n cover my face too!!

Re: Women Only

hijab rocks

Re: Women Only

Eh ?? WHy was my post edited ??

Re: Women Only

i wear 'julbab' and cover my face.firstly i started to wear hijab and after few months i was convinced by the idea of covering myface also.i started it just to follow Quran and ahkam of Allah but now i came to know the reasons and hikmat of that hukam.

Re: Women Only

i dont wear the hijab....not yet....ive got pretty similar issues with most of the girls here....my thinking is , im not exactly a perfect muslim (with 5x namax and quran...although i fast during ramzan)..i just dont want to be a hypocrite....my thinking was liek someone said: i would like to, "but i feel i need to prioritise my namaz n things like that first"...but what angel eyes comment after that is true...start off with the hijab, and everything else will fall into place.....

i do have some pet peeves about other girls wearing hijab (i've seen this in my family)..some girls that do wear the scarf still wear short sleeves...why?
also some girls that wear the scarf, their hair is not covered entirely...always some "litth" (strand of hair) in front of their faces (for fashion purposes)...

my biggest issue with me wearing the hijab is going to be at work...ive been working in the same place for almost 3 years.and one day if i come to work wearing a hijab....what should i say? this is the one ive been debating on.....ive seen those websites where pple write what shoudl be say when someone asks you this..but its more like a lecture...if anyone of you also had this issue...let me know....

also with me, ive been trying to get pregnant for 3 years...but nothing....i made this deal with myself.....the day i find out im pregnant...i'll be wearing the hijab...

any comments?

Re: Women Only

As for your work, you may want to inform some of your close co-workers that you intend to start observing hijab. You could also send out an e-mail to the ppl that you work with. Invite them to come to you if they have any questions.

Re: Women Only

SAlam,

Afia and Grapefruit do u both live in Pakistan or somewhere else?

Yeh i do hijab too Alhamdollillah

Re: Women Only

Are you in Pakistan Ladki Paki?

Re: Women Only

I once had a teacher who observed complete hijab.. covered her face, wore socks and gloves. The interesting thing, however, was that she wore seven layers of clothing (including the normal clothes and abaya). She taught young girls and women voluntarily in a few places. I found it very amazing that even during summer time she'd go through her day to day routine with that much clothing on.

Re: Women Only

vraiment?

Re: Women Only

That’s kinda retarded.. what’s the point of 7 layers of clothes?

Re: Women Only

people who are on very strict diet, and very underweight need so much clothes...cause they are allways feeling cold, maybe that was her case
