Women of Islam on ARY

Did anybody watch the documentary called ‘Women of Islam’ aired on ARY? I think it was on last night and they repteated it again this morning. Unfortunately, I missed most of it, but they gave a website address but I think I must have written it down wrong cause the address doesn’t work. I want to order the DVD. Did anybody watch it? I checked ARY’s website but they don’t seem to have anything on it.

Re: Women of Islam on ARY

Didn't get a chance to watch it yet, however, mom recorded it for me. So will be watching it soon.

I heard it gives a mixed impression about the ruling of observing hijab.

Re: Women of Islam on ARY

From the bits I caught, it showed how women in a lot of different places from North America to Turkey to the middle east are being persecuted for wearing it. It also showed how women aren't exactly being forced to wear it ... it's totally up to them. Anyway, it was quite good ... from the bits I caught. Could you please PM me the link/address after you watch it? I would really appreciate it.

Re: Women of Islam on ARY

it was an awesome documentary..

i really hate the fact that turky being a muslim country, they descriminate women wearing hijaab… hijabi womens arent allowed to even get a drivers liscence??? or attend the graduation ceremoney, and they are trying to be called as liberal???

not that just, they also showed one of the incident that where hijabi women got into parliment but when she was gonna get the power, the president told her to put the woman in place… thats disgusting? do they even read quran?

i like the whole show, it shows how woman chose to wear veil, and felt that its for their own protection when they go out..

they get more respect when they are on veil…

even they showed the interview of one of the christian lady who wear the viel. and when they asked why u do that.. she said, i feel more secured and protected from bad eyes when i am covered in veil…

very good one :k:

sadian. can you also give me the website adress

Re: Women of Islam on ARY

exactly.. funny thing is that when they start the documentry. they started with afghanistan, they first showed the bush speech where he was saying bad things about talibaan sayin how they forced their woman to cover their bodies even their toes. but even after they got rid of taliban, womans didnt feel like taking out their veil…

:k:

Re: Women of Islam on ARY

I watched it on VHS, so there's no link for it online (or none that I know of).

It was a very interesting documentary I must say. It showed how many totally believe in the fact that hijab is mandatory and is part of Islam, while others think hijab translates to modesty alone and is not referred to as the head scarf and jilbaab.

Anyway, those who observe it stated that they feel a lot more comfortable and safe. They do get the odd looks on the streets, but at the same time they feel a lot more secure and protected than they did in the past.

Also, they showed this Christian Pakistani woman who said that she observes it (dupatta) because men frequently look at women in an indecent way. She also statated that the harassment or the looks that she used to get when walking the streets have definitely decreased because of wearing dupatta over her head.

It was also good to learn that many starting observing hijab after what happened in the US few years ago.
