West doesn't have the "monopoly" on "psychos". If you're implying that Eastern people are "saner" than Westerns then you're wrong. There are serial killers like Bundi or Sam or Jack The Ripper back home too. It's just that we don't "keep track of them" like making movies on them or media profiling like the West.

Agreed. But even now if you compare the quantity. West is way ahead of us. Probably you forgot the cultural difference. Had it not been the "lack of personal space" and "mental instability" , you would not expect westerners coming to east in search of peace and spirituality. And likes of Osho, Mahesh Yogi and Krishnamurthy would not be that big in west.
But alas, our own people are blindly following western culture that they are taking even bad things along with goodies of west!
Yeah i refused you once and look what you did to me !! ![]()
^ if spiritual guidance was what was needed. Many Indians wouldn' have converted to islam or christianity or whatever.... That point is silly.
You cannot expect to take only good or bad. That is the beauty of cultural exchange. Rejoice in it...don't knock it.

The reason that you see "Westerns" turning out to these spiritual leaders is not that they offer something that can't be found by other means. It's because people in the West are more open to ideas and perceptions compared to us Pakistani/Indians.
The way we are raised, we follow a strict code of belief in terms of organized religion. So a Hindu turning Muslim is still abiding by that particular code. In the West, people are free enough to break away from that code of religious boundries, so they are able to seek ways that may satiate their spiritual needs. For us, spirituality must be attached to concept of God, and religious scriptures.
As far as quantity is concerned, again, while you may intentionally or unintentionally follow Western media (BBC, CNN etc) regularly, you don't follow media back home so are may not be aware of the number as much as you're aware of it here in the West.
No this point is not silly. A better word would be irony. These people were deprived of something , that was their own. And ofcourse they can not be blamed for it as well.
Yeah ofcourse , that is the whole point. A balance in attitudes is needed, but for that we need to give respect where it is due :k:

You have valid point. But again you are missing a point. Why did not they get answers to their problems within their culture and sphere of spirituality of their civilization. There must have been some reason to turn to east in such a big way. I hope my point is clear to you now.

Yeah , your reason sounds okay to me. But why this is the first time me the same person comes to know about it ? Think again, there should be some substance in what I said!
No..they were not deprived. They made their choice and that is good. If that makes them feel closer to god then so be it. Spirituality is a personal thing. Not a freakin cult of mahresh yogi or bahgwan rajnish or whatever. Your concept of deprivation is silly indeed. and quite offensive. It reminds of when people say that their way is the "truth". Those people are misguided and idiotic.

You misunderstood me completely here. Yeah they made their choice and I do not blame them for what they did. And deprivation here meant that they were not fully aware of what already was available within their faith. And hence they were not in position to compare. May be we can blame the people who kept all the spirituality to themselves and disciples not for common public. But sure, it does not mean that there was no spirituality ??? ( and I can argue at lengths about it)
And , sure we should move on. Past is past; We all seem to be happy with whatever we have. And that should be goal of any stable social system. And I would not say my faith is the only "truth". But sure , I would expect the repsect it deserves !
peace!
IT, you are not understanding either. What makes you think that they didn't understand or were deprived the supposed "lacking spiritual attributes" in their contemporary surrpondings?
WHy is there a need for blame at all? This is a tactic of lesser faiths and organized dogma. God doesn;t give a siht how you get to her/him/it.
My empathies for any male having to witness this atrocity. What is wrong with these women??? How about some gender equality in the scope of punishment..troubling news indeed.
You guys sound like you never heard of a man raping a woman and then chopping her head off.
Atleast in this case the women didnt rape him. But they did chop the head. Only difference is they had to pick one out of two.
