My boss is jewish and he asked me why Men and Women in Islam do not have the same rights? Also his example was Egypt where the Women cannot drive cars? Can someone help me out here? Why women do not have the same rights as men? Simple but good way of answering his question would be great.

In Egypt women can drive, it is Great Land of Saud, you cannot.
You should ask him if he would like to compare women rights in Islam vs. Women right in Jewish law? Cos you know according to Exodus … a man can sell his daughter into slavery as a maidservant. I kid you not!

I don't want to put down his religion, that is dumb. He was just asking me why I had no clue =/ In Saudi land then how come they cannot drive? Do they do it because of religious reason or cultural or something else? I read an article that states that women and men cannot be equal ofcourse but things like driving and what not kind of make it hard to justify. Also want to know how do you answer such a question its so complicated sometimes.

He also stated that in the state they are implementing Shariah Law and in one state it is implemented and a women had complained that her husband had sex with her without consent and the husband was not punished as Shariah Law was applied which is a husband has a right to have sex with his wife without her consent. Is this true?

if we talk about culture then we have to accept that segregation between men and women was well establish among all civilization around the globe....merely two centuries ago........
