Here in the west you may occasionally hear of domestic violence being committed by women. So why do woman hit/ abuse men??
Is it to dominate and control the person they are hitting?? Low self esteem??

Women hitting men hmm I think I have read an article on BBC once about pakistani guys being tortured by british girls and their family after marriage. I will try to find the link but these things are happening

Real men don't hit.
The dispute that I witnessed was a "distress call" that I received from the man who was being attacked in his own home. He asked me to come over immediately because she was being "violent" and he didn't want to raise his hand.
I literally had to stand between this crazed woman and her husband and fend off her flailing arms as she attempted to hit, scratch and grab him. She was so aggressive that she managed to push me to the point where my back was pressed against his back and he was pressed to the front door while trying to leave. I had to summon all my strength to push her away so that the door could be opened inwards and he could leave.
Make no mistake.....he was a big guy......he could have returned the attacks and done real damage. He chose not to.

I dont think this is very common...more so because of the fact that in a couple, usually women are smaller than men.
How does she hit someone twice her size?
Edit: I guess if the man chooses not to hit the woman, then yes its possible.
^ a good arm can go a long way (ie: chucking a shoe at him)

Reha, I saw this video on FB... people were passing it around, where this African American woman was beating up her husband.... he was half her size.... she was HUGE. OMG, it was horrible and funny at the same time, I don't know why he didn't run away.

I had the same doubts......couldn't imagine how she would even try.....she was much smaller than him and quite skinny. But when she would be enraged she would have courage, strength and energy like you wouldn't believe. She didn't even care where they were. I even witnessed her scratching his face to the point that it bled and even ripping his jacket.....and this is in public!

Good on him, from what I just read his behaviour is to be commended. Seriously, any abuse towards another person is just wrong regardless of your gender. I have just as much contempt for women who abuse their husbands as I do for men who abuse their wives.

How would hitting her back resolve the issue? You're only stooping down to her level and it would only make the situation worse.

About 4 years ago I read an article in which they were telling that more than 30% men are hit by their wifes. (In France)

***I've heard stories of women hitting men and yes though I find it mind-boggling how someone half the size as another can exhibit such strength , I guess rage can give you that added strength.
But kudos to those men who inspite of such violent partners did not raise their hand and reciprocate.........Now that's truly admirable !***
