women, as created from a man's rib.

*** a pro-islamic point of view

it is said, that a hadith tells us of women being created from a man’s rib.
molvis explain it, as adam being created first, then eve being created from his rib, and they mating to move on the human race.
however this is a great misunderstanding on the part of the molvis.

*** the real hadith says:
“accept my reminder, about treating women kindly, because women are made up of rib.”

*** an anti-islamic point of view

this hadith does not talk about eve, adams wife, but talks about women as a whole. it says ALL women are made of rib, and well how actually the women are born, is much evidently against this.
therefore any such meaning which talks about women being literally created from a man’s rib are not acceptable.

*** conclusion:

a pro-islamic, and anti-islamic may fight over this and end up in a fruitless quarrel. but none would try and understand what it really means.

*** taking the middle path:

taking the middle path is when we try and understand the meaning of this saying.
a molvi has to realize that those things which are evidently false must not be associated to islam, and quarreled about.
an anti-islamic must keep in mind, that mohammad was however a reliable man and such foolish things can not be associated to him.

*** the real meaning:

a little search will get us to he real meaning of the saying. when it is said, that a women is made from a rib, means that she has a habbit of disagreeing to the husband.it is her nature, that she feels like disagreeing to what her husband says, and loves to make him leave his point and listen to her. so it is seen that women rule their husbands heart and make them do things which they would not have liked to. such a habbit, in urdu is termed as “naaz nakhra!”

that is what mohammad has pointed out! dont be cruel to the women! dont make her listen to you by force! she wants to test his decisions, and that is her nature! thus he makes it compulsory for a man, to make his wife listen to him only by love and logic.

if he uses force, he will break the woman’s heart, and would cause much harm to the bond of love between them.

this is what the hadith points out to.

So be on watch for a day when heaven shall bring a manifest smoke
covering the people; this is a painful chastisement. ‘O our lord remove thou from us, the chastisement; we are believers.’ How should they have the reminder? seeing a clear Messenger has already come to them, then they turned away from him, and said,’ A man, tutored, possessed!"
( the koran, verse 11-14, chapter 44, Smoke, the nuclear explosion.)

Very good jewel! :)

Good topic Jewel,

These molvis are making their own stories which has no basis of Quran and Hadith.

I want to give another judgement in support of this from Quran.

Most of the people will be aware of the Masnoon Ayaat which are recited on the occasion of Nikah. (Start of Sura Nisa)

In the first ayat after Bissmillah in Sura Nisa, Allah says that he has created mankind from “Nafs-i-Wahida”, Then Allah says that from that “Nafs-i-Wahida” he created the opposite sex and formed the pairs. The Question is that what is “Nafs-i-Wahida”. Is it a man from which a woman was created or Woman came first and then man was created. If we look at the word “Nafs-i-Wahida” it is a “Moanas” i.e. is used fro female. This clearly explains that the woman came first and men were created afterwards.

right yasir.
you came up with a very nice point. Hazrat mirza tahir ahmed sahab explained this matter in a recent arabic question and answer programme on mta.

but molvis dont watch mta :)

I'm a little confused about this response. Don't we as Muslims believe that Prophet Adam (pbuh) was the first human created, a man?

[This message has been edited by Nusaiybah (edited March 27, 1999).]

my friend,

your concern is genuine. however, what you pointed out is the opinion of the molvis. the real koranic opinion is far from being close to it. adam, according to the koran was not the first man created. this would shock some of the readers. but i will be clear on how i relate to the koran. please read my new topic, "adam, not the first human being."
