Women are insecure

Well I’m probably the queen of insecurity but it’s weird that like wherever you go, women are always talking about makeup and body type and working out and men. Pick up a magazine and it’s all you read, this makeup is gonna tone down your yellow skin tone, this kinda makeup is gonna make your lips pouty and oh so sexy, and this makeup is gonna hide that hideous acne. This swimsuit is gonna give you a chest and this swimsuit is gonna cut pounds from your butt. And what’s hilarious is that every once in a while, a magazine will say, “oh hey girls, accept your body! if you love your body, then so will men”. It’s funny because then that same article goes on about magnifying your good traits and toning down your bad characteristics. It’s like without makeup and good clothes and a push up bra, you’re nothing, you can’t love yourself and your body without these accessories. Even I used to do this, if I didn’t have makeup on I wouldn’t go anywhere. If I didn’t have a shirt on that showed my body to its best advantage, I wouldn’t step out of the house. And god forbid if someone saw me without makeup.

And it’s really stupid seeing girls coming so dressed up to university. I did that too, like the whole three hours of makeup before coming to school but this isnt loving your body! This is a shield you use as a pretense of loving your body because you feel hella insecure without it.

And same goes for the men thing, I’m so guilty of it too but I’m learning. It’s so easy to blame guys as being the players and the insecure ones and the ones who cant keep their eyes on their spouses or girlfriends.

Why are women so insecure? You don’t need to read an article about loving your body to learn to love your body!!!

And even if you try to be yourself and love yourself...you have a mother who'll tell you otherwise. We women are our own worst enemies.

or brothers!

Hmm, how come you imply so much that wearing make up and dressing up equals being insecure?

Wearing makeup and nice clothes aren't insecurity, insecurity is when you HAVE to do it all the time and if you don't, you feel down. Insecurity is when every single magazine out there can't do without articles on makeup and sex and clothes and even articles about loving you as the unique you involve makeup to mazimize your features. And insecurity is when all conversations revolve around your looks and how crappy men are and your body.
