What do yall think? Is the research flawed and biased or does it hold some truth? The research was done by UT, so they got a lot of credibilty. Are women constantly evaluating other men while in a relationships?

This is just one study and it provides an explanation based on an evolutionary perspective for why many mated women arewilling to incur substantial risks by having an affair but it does not provide an actual number or percentage of how many women*** actually ending up cheating*** as compared to their male counterparts in the same age bracket, social status, education level, etc.
It also doesn’t talk about cultural, societal and religious commitments and pressures that may take precedence over this ‘evolutionary psychology’ perspective.

From purely an evolutionary point of view, women may have been psychologically programmed to constantly look for a better, stronger and able mate to have children with who will be genotypically and hence phenotypically superior to their counterparts to ensure survival up and above the average. This makes total sense as we are essentially animals albeit very intelligent and civilised ones.
Now how much this evolutionary tendency plays a part in modern human female engaging in extra-marital relationship/adultery is something we do not know. Of course cultural, religious and societal factors play a huge part, especially how a woman is brought up and how her surroundings shape up her mind and behaviour.

Every insaan is programmed with an inclination toward various sins as well as a desire to seek what is better or more advantageous for us in every aspect of life. But we’ve been given aqal and a conscience too. So, meh, jo marzi kahay yeh study.

Ya well whether we agree or not, the study may be true. There may be a lot of women cheating out there but they may be very good at hiding. So, no exposure.

Totally Hogwash! only University of Texas Women may be that can not be considered a representative sample!
Most women I have known in communities and acquaintances where I have lived in Pakistan and the US did not even display signs of what this author talks about!

Interesting study, I think he does make some very good points. Specially regarding things that were not explained by best gene theory. Which I feel at times has been taken for granted without extensive evidence behind it.

Well there was a time when I did not pay much attention to people, and had a similar idea. Now that my work involves monitoring a lot of people as well, I have watched social behaviors more closely.
And I have to agree that most married women do flirt, even if they may not have full fledged affairs.

Even if they aren’t cheating, women know that they have to just wink and there will be desperate men salivating at their feet. Young and pretty women really know how to play that game!

You know, there is a school of thought that says since men are fertile WAY longer than women, they are the ones that
A) are ‘programmed’ to cheat, to preserve DNA via offspring
B) are ‘programmed’ to be polygamous.
I can guarantee you that you can find a study to back ANY point of view for most things in life. You can manipulate statistics and studies to show whatever the hell you like.
Just like how almost 100% of politicians that quote statistical values and studies are 90% likely to be manipulating/misleading/misstating facts. Fact!
