now most u people have given really good points about y women should and should not work..
Well i beleive some women should beworking, but only chosen work... and yes the women who want to work or be "independent" are either who have been reading too many western articles or watching tooooo many indian movies,
i live in new zealand and i have seen what goes on here and i am glad my mummy didnt let me mix in with these people. if a women i married, her 1st job should be look after her kids, which is missing with a lot of muslims here in new zealand, even paki families. The people here who write articles about "muslims women being oppressed".. i belive they them selves dont have the quality of muslims families becaue they think " they are independent" by working and letting their kids grow up themselves. Tell u when the kids grow up they are suing there own parents over things which are like stupid. Even watched Judge Judy U will learn alot y women should be staying home at looking after their kids and husband.
Another reason y women should stay home is the chances of women being attracted to males. Trust me that desire always takes over u some time. and that ends up breakege of marrige and more fassad.
And one more thing, my sisters have experienced the respect of hijab by non-muslims. This can be descrbed as:

and that is true. So the best way to hijab is to stay home, rather than wandering around in work place and acting like honey
And have u looked at statistics of rape in Pakistan Illegal areas, on the pak afghan borders, who never let their women out.
i read in a book written by a gora who was writng about Imran Khan, he observed himself that women in those areas themselves donot want to get out of the house and prefer their hubands to lock them inside, where as in the west it would be written as "muslim husbands oppressing their women".. the rape number in those areas are i think nill.
And look at the rape rate in AMerica. Where women are freeliy to do what ever they want, even pose nude ( which i know u people will say that we women in pak wont do that, well guess what, we are, just look at the "Lollywood" movies, and the "Fashion" magazines. which is enough to prove me right) so what is american womens value, close to none. they have no life, as they only get married for at most 2 years, due to attraction to a male in the workplace. And now guess what., they are finding a solution to this problem.. "GAY MARRIGE".
So my point is that all of this starts from women contacting men in someway, and sure in some way, sometime a women will be freely talking to this guy, and her husband will get suspiisious and wow what happends, divorce.
So women are needed in for doctors and teachers, but that should be under strict ruling that no male allowed in that place of work.
And one more thing, in india divorces dur to mobiles have increased a lot due to text messaging, and that could happen also.. "if women are allowed to mix with people".
And lastly but not the least. Women y do u want to make ur life a living hell, u already have pleanty of work at home... Cleaning ur house, growing up ur kids, and looking after ur hunband..... so y make u life a prob by taking up another job that will not fit in to ur scheduale.
And yeah ther has been a takl about women being allowed in the mosque... can i say something.... Allah has said the best place for a women to pray in her room where she sleeps, if not then, other place in the house, if not then mosque. The mosque can only be substitued if u are living in a non-muslim country and u have no way of getting islamic education so u have to come to the jumma for the deyan or to get advice from molana.

Gosh!!! I am speechless. Are you some 18th century spirit, typing out all this rubbish( sorry, but I am so mad right now...). You have listed every lil crappy thing that came to your mind. You just somehow want to prove that women shouldn't be allowed to step outside their homes and should serve their families as long as they live. You say women want to be independent because of what they see in the movies ? Don't you think women have their own brains. Don't u think they can think and decide what is good or bad for them. Education has made women aware of their rights and status( which shud be equal to that of men ).
Hey, you know what, the problem with you lies in the fact that your MUMMY did not allow you to mix with people. Yes, I have to say this. You are picking up tit-bits from what you see on t.v or read in articles and you are making your point. Yes, women who are educated and work have an open mind about bringing up their kids, and I personally think an educated, working woman can do as good a job(maybe better) of raising her kids as a stay at home mom can do. Just because a women is working, doesn't mean she has given up on her values and culture. On the other hand such a woman is more capable, now that she knows the situation of the outside(real) world, she is more knowledgable and is more aware of what kind of problems she might face while raising her kids. She can be more in tune with her kids while they are growing up.
You have stated the rape statistics. Yes, where ever women don't step out of their closed confines there are less chances of such crimes, but does it mean you have to strip the women off their freedom and keep them bound for their whole lives? Don't you see, the problem lies with the "other sex". Why you want to punish women for that? Nowadys women are being taught some basic techniques of defense to deal with such situations. So, why can't you think of such a solution rather than your house arrest for life one.
And you are talking about women getting attracted to men at work places and blah blah....So, you just wanna blame this on women? Hey, the chances of men having an affair are much greater than women having one. Don't pick a few examples and start ranting about how "dangerous" it is to give women their freedom.
And you say women who work, talk freely to colleagues and this might cause suspicion in the mind of the husband. Well, if the husband is as shallow as in your case , then I think the woman is better off without him. Hey, in today's world man and wife, both have to trust each other and work as a unit. Both have to share equal responsibilities, be it earning bread or raising kids. 4 hands are better than 2, in any case.
Women have to stand on their own feet. Who knows what is instore for them in future? What if the husband dies an untimely death and she is left with kids to raise by her own ? Can, a woman ,who doesn't know much about the outside world survive this tragedy better than a working woman? A woman with no job and no world smarts will be left with no option other than begging for help from relatives/friends.
And lastly, your speech towards the end....awww so touching!!! Puhhhlleeezzz, gimme a break! Yes, we rule the world and we realise it well, but I guess this makes people like you shiver in their boots. Problem with most men( like you) is that they cannot stand to see a woman being independent and doing better than them. This is all to do with your big , fat ego. They are just scared that some day women might actually have an upper hand in everything and men would have the secondary status( like that of women today), which I say is very much a possiblity.
In the end - it will be women who will decide about their ROLE in their society, not men desirous to see status quo.

Comments like these have always riled me! I mean the fundos in NWFP have destroyed all movie theatres, closed down & burned all vcr & tv shops, banned music, co-education, is enforcing 5 namazs, enforcing burqas etc and this seemingly educated women is DEFENDING the fundos as "having done nothing out of the ordinary".
