WOMEN and gold??!!?!

Ask Imam

check this link- im not too sure what to think of this-

Re: WOMEN and gold??!!?!

Interesting. I thought gold was prohibited only for men. :(

Re: WOMEN and gold??!!?!

Check out the last question of that link. Women are allowed to wear gold and sliver rings only

*it is mentioned in Behisti Zewar that women are not allowed to wear rings made out of metals other than gold or silver. Assuming that I have not misread this masla, what is the daleel this masla is based on. *

Re: WOMEN and gold??!!?!

What is Behisiti Zewar

Re: WOMEN and gold??!!?!

This is a well known book for women's masley.

Women are allowed to wear jewels. Men are allowed to wear just silver rings.

Re: WOMEN and gold??!!?!

Beheshti Zewar is the book complied by Maulana Ashraf Thanvi. The book talks about rulings on small small daily things on how to do them. This book was originaly written for ladies stand point in very easy urdu and people used to give a copy of that book to their daughters in dowry.

But its an excellent book for everyone to read, be a man or woman.

Thanks niksik and tlk- for the information- i will definately look into the book-

but- what about what the article states? is that wrong information?

Re: WOMEN and gold??!!?!

The link simply means Dont ask that Imam.

I never ever heard or read that Gold is not allowed to women. Gold and silk are forbidden for Men but both are allowed to women.

There is one clear hadiths, " Wearing silk and gold is not allowed for the males of my Ummah but allowed to the females."

Re: WOMEN and gold??!!?!

my understanding is (and forgive me if i'm wrong) gold is disliked for both men and women, but allowed for women since it's an investment for them and their future. hence it's ok for women to wear, but not ok for men.

actually ask imam website has alot of good information- and when people ask questions the imam's state the referance- so its not a bad site- as u say "dont ask imam" you should look into it-

i was just asking about the question somebody posted on that site and he gave some information he found from another website- so please dont bash on something ur not familiar with.

and that's right i never heard gold is not allowed for women. i always heard and read it about men not being allowed to wear gold or silk. but i still dont get everything he states in that article i mean where did he get the information from- and how much truth is in this??

SECOND: On the authority of Thaubaan (RA) who said: "Bint Hubaira came to the Prophet (SAW) wearing large rings of gold on her hand. The Prophet (SAW) began hitting her hand with a small stick which he had saying,

"Would it please you for Allah to put rings of fire on your hand?"

And so she went to Fatimah to plead her case." Thaubaan said: "The Prophet (SAW) went to Fatimah and I was with him. She had taken a gold chain from around her neck and she said: 'Tihs was given to me by Abu Hassan (i.e. Ali, her husband), and the chain was in her hand. The Prophet (SAW) then said,

"O Fatimah would you be pleased if the people were to say that Fatimah the daughter of Muhammad has a chain of fire on her hand?"

Then he became harsh with her, and left without sitting. She took the chain, sold it, and bought the freedom of a number of slaves. When that reaches the Prophet (SAW) he said,

Re: WOMEN and gold??!!?!

^ I read those parts which you have pasted. never heard about them before. May be you can ask the same Imam on whats the source of those incidents he has quoted.

I read that Shaikh Albani started a huge controversy based on the above quoted narrations and declared his opinion that the wearing of gold jewelry is forbidden for the believing woman in Islam.

But majority of the scholars from the earliest times until today consider those narrations quoted by the Prophet Mohammed (saws) more as a dislike that his own family should adorn themselves with gold rather than a comprehensive prohibition for the believing Ummah.

Look at this authentic hadith from Tirmidhi which proofs that Gold is lawful for women.

Al-Tirmidhi Hadith 808 Narrated by Abu Musa Ash'ari
The Prophet (saws) said: ‘Wearing silk and gold has been made unlawful for the males of my Ummah and lawful for their females.’

not necessarily. that is the claim written on the cover of the book. it is not not necessarily try.e

Re: WOMEN and gold??!!?!

I know at least 5 friends who received that book along with a Qur'an on their weddings from their parents.
