Women and designer stuff

Re: Women and designer stuff

naah, not so picky about brands. i'll buy whatever as long as it looks good.

Re: Women and designer stuff

I certainly am not taken with brand names. The only thing I am adamant about is not buying Hilfiger.

As long as it looks good on you, that's all that should matter.

Re: Women and designer stuff

i dont think desi gulls r too much into brandname wagaira.....russian chicks r really into it. there was this girl in my class who came dressed head to toe in vuitton.......
most(no make that almost all) russian chicks in my school dressed up every friggin day like they were going to a party....did their updos, smoky eyes, powder, tight A*s jeans, skimpy tops (all branded ofcourse).....

and the ones that couldnt afford branded stuff...they dressed up too..only in stuff from strawberry.
My russian friend wouldnt have money for lunch, her house was a shambles but she still saved up all her paycheck money to buy tahari pants and some other brand shoe that cost her a total of abt $800 for just the two items yikes!

Re: Women and designer stuff

I definitely believe in quality. I mean when somebody has to have huge Gucci symobls all over themselves. (Even if it’s a fake). They just want to show that label to everyone. I usually buy good brand names and designer things but find them for reasonable prices at discount department stores or sales.

Re: Women and designer stuff

I find Coach and Louis vuitton bags kinda ugly... i dont like the big logo all over, a tiny lil logo that says "XOXO or Nine west is fine, but not the print like luis vuitton..Shweet, those russian chicks, yikes that sounds like me!! I always justify a purchase iwht my lunch money by thinking i dont need to eat that much, i can afford toskip a few meals, i' wont wither away :(

Re: Women and designer stuff

i don't think it's just women, or only non-desis who are into brand names....my brother has more branded stuff than i do....and i have white friends who don't give a **** about who the designer is, they just pick up wotever they fancy...personally, sometimes i like name brands but not those really expensive ones like luis vitton....and if i do buy them it won't be at the retail price...but mostly i buy wot i like and only if i can afford it.

Re: Women and designer stuff

I agree with the above...Men are just as much into fashion as girls are...and its not limited to race either...individuals are individuals...

The issue to me is not about brand names but buying stuff that looks good...
It becomes worrying when people buy bad looking clothes because it happens to be a Versace...buy the brand by all means but buy good clothes...

Re: Women and designer stuff

Sara! u r truly after my own soul…i am so sick of the brown and gold louis vuittons …EVERY girl in NY has one (fake or real) and the fake ones look sooo real too…Coach…i fail to understand why their ugly handbags are soooo expensive…
if im gonna spend that much $$$ i rather buy some ultra-cool stuff by betsey johnson…nine west rocks too for affordable stuff and the latest trends.

Re: Women and designer stuff

It’s not the real/fake thing that bugs me, its that they’re just plain ugly… i like XOXO’s new design, the white with colorful hearts on it. but they dint hav the size bag i wanted :frowning: Oh I visited charlotte russe today… man the stuff is soooooo sparkly!!!

Re: Women and designer stuff

ugh dont ever buy clothes from charlotte russe....they suck!!!!! i bought a polo from there that shrunk two sizes small (down to my baby cousins size! ) after one wash!!!

Re: Women and designer stuff

Mango is exatly like Zara, Im pretty sure Mango is Spanish too. Good with pirce, quality is not all that.

If one can afford designer clothes/shoes/handbags then why not? Unless they are asking you to pay for it then I don’t realy think it’s an issue. It may be just a name/label, but to some people its quality too. Personally I would never buy anything from Burberry or Tommy Hilfiger.

Re: Women and designer stuff

Hmmm. I saw a Zara at George Town. Neevr seen it before. WIll check out on next visit.

Re: Women and designer stuff

Don't buy anything from Zara Trf or Basic section, will tear or shrink after a couple of wears. Zara Woman is ok and most handbags are really nice, they will last you. Shoes you'l have to be careful with. Do I sound like an ex-employee yet?

Theres millions of Zara's all over the world, im suprised America doesn't have many. As it's a spanish company, you have to be 36 inside leg for trousers and a uk size 6 to fit into anything...anything that looks good that is.

Re: Women and designer stuff

There's like 3 zaras in NYC, i've never checked em out though.. a size 6 UK is a size 2 US rite? That's tiny :(

Re: Women and designer stuff

Whats a uk 6 for us?

Re: Women and designer stuff

Google tells me UK 6 is a US 4

Re: Women and designer stuff

Thats tells me I shouldn;t bother visiting the store.

Re: Women and designer stuff

funguy-alot of women might not care about wearing something a guy would like to screw her in. Some women dress to radiate power or to show their individuality…
examples include corporate suits, bohemian clothes. some women just like to pile on the trends…even though some men might not be turned on by it…
i see lotsa gay men giving tips to women (robert Verdi…who i seriously think should be the first to undergo a makeover on fashion police) alot of them do an ok job but i dont see reason to trust a gay man over a woman or vice versa when asking for style tips. it has become a sorta cliche that gay=good fashion sense.

and its not true that designers are just gay or women…CK, karl lagerfield, paki guy HSY, Zac Posen are all i can think of at the moment but there are more…

Re: Women and designer stuff

^ LOL! that's true, there's this gay guy i've seen at work and he dresses horrible! the straight guys look better than him! but yea women don't always dress to impress men, sometimes we just wana look good and that makes us feel more confident...like if a guy thinks that a girl looks fit in a dress, but she thinks she looks ugly then she won't wear it just cos he likes it...she has to like it too...

Re: Women and designer stuff

I’ve walked into that store once and it’s totally disposable clothing. That’s fine for teens who wear things by season and then just toss them out for the next hot style. I used to work at H&M on Fifth Ave when it first opened there and it was a madhouse constantly. I couldn’t believe how many people were buying those clothes. From teens to senior citizens. We had older women who obviously just came from Bergdorfs and one asked, “Where do you keep the cashmere?” That was funny. I wanted to say, “Sorry no cashmere, just cheap cotton items that will shrink after your maid washes them.”
