this is not reflective of Islam and this is happening in a remote place.
the same sort of stuff happens in the name of many different religions in remote places.

Actually this is not true. In fact until 2005/6 in Pakistan it was the law that if a woman failed to produced 4 witnesses for rape she would go to jail for an adultery.
