What I don’t get is why the village even allowed these goons to get away with it. It’s a public act of punishment, so why would people attend and watch? If all the villagers say, look,

1. We’re not going to attend these kinds of public punishments

and

2. limit these people by blocking them, inhibiting them, and throwing them into mental asylums like what the rest of the world does…

Then I think these problems would die down. It just amazes me a village shows up for such a spectacle and doesn’t turn on these guys and in turn beat the **** out of them.
