Zindagi phir sey goya ragooN meiN utar aai thi
us ki nigaahoN meiN ghazab ki maseehaai thi

meri baatoN meiN haal dil ka chupa beittha tha
uske lehjey meiN merey lafzoN ki pazeer’aai thi

naya hi rang tha jo aaNkhoN meiN umad aaya tha
ajab si mehak thi jo saaNsoN tak chali aai thi

wo eid ka chaand tha, sitaara tha ke jugnu tha
ya dhanak ki chaadar kisi ney raat gaey phelai thi

khusbueiN kis tarhaN aaNgan meiN raqs na karteiN
seyj mohabbat ki phooloN ney khud saj’aai thi

sawaal to ye tha ke deikhooN usey ke baat karooN
aalam-e-madhoshi meiN samaa’at thi aur beenaai thi
