Re: Wives earning more than the husband−Does/would this affect their relationship?
it shouldn't be, as Prophet Muhammad PBUH used to work for Hazrat Khadija RA.

Thank you everyone.
So this isn’t a foreign concept in our desi culture and can work, as it has worked for some of you, Masha’Allah. I’m so happy to learn that!!
“Together we can!!” ![]()
I really hope and pray that it works for us too. In Shaa Allah.
Re: Wives earning more than the husband−Does/would this affect their relationship?
It wouldn't make any difference to me. I'd still fulfill my financial responsibility (supporting us and providing for needs). She'd be free to do what she would want with her earnings.
Re: Wives earning more than the husband−Does/would this affect their relationship?
It usually wouldn't be a problem if women, who earn more than their husbands, don't start to look down upon their husbands. It is not so much about men feeling intimidated or emasculated. There is also a tendency among women to think that *what he earns is ours while what I earn is mine *which again leads to the man becoming resentful of her success. When men earn more, their wives enjoy direct benefits of it. for instance more gifts, vacations, shopping. The same cannot be said for the reversed scenario.
Women seem to be very consciously aware when a man starts to become dependent upon her and they hate that feeling.

^ Agreed! Both, husband and wife, need to keep their attitude in check and work as a team for it to work.
