Re: Witr
both are correct way. depends which fiqh you follow. Hanafiis do three rak'ats together.
Re: Witr
^ thank you for your reply.
A friend brought up the point that in masjid ul haaram it's
Prayed separately hence this leaves no room for debate and praying
It separately is the right way. Is that so?
Re: Witr
Just because its done that way in masjid-ul-haram does not make it universally applicable. Masjid Haram also does Azaan for Tahajjud, while no other masjid in the world does that as there is no Azaan for nafl prayers? As KKf said, if you are following Hanafi Fiqh, go with 3 Witr together.
Re: Witr
Peace diya01,
Both ways are correct subject matter to Fiqha. Please see below hadith for your info.
**Book ‘Prayer (Kitab Al-Salat): Detailed Injunctions about Witr’ of Sunan Abu-Dawud Hadith No 1417.
**
Narrated AbuAyyub al-Ansari: The Prophet
said: The witr is a duty for every Muslim so if anyone wishes to observe it with five rak’ahs, he may do so; if anyone wishes to observe it with three, he may do so, and if anyone wishes to observe it with one, he may do so.
**Book ‘Companions of the Prophet’ of Sahih Bukhari Hadith No. 109
**
Narrated Ibn Abi Mulaika: Somebody said to Ibn 'Abbas, “Can you speak to the chief of the believers Muwaiya, as he does not pray except one Rak’a as Witr?” Ibn 'Abbas replied, “He is a Faqih (i.e. a learned man who can give religious verdicts) .”
**Book ‘Ablutions (Wudu)’ of Sahih Bukhari Hadith No. 183
**
Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Abbas: that he stayed overnight in the house of Maimuna the wife of the Prophet, his aunt. He added : I lay on the bed (cushion transversally) while Allah’s Apostle and his wife lay in the length-wise direction of the cushion. Allah’s Apostle slept till the middle of the night, either a bit before or a bit after it and then woke up, rubbing the traces of sleep off his face with his hands. He then, recited the last ten verses of Sura Al-Imran, got up and went to a hanging water-skin. He then Performed the ablution from it and it was a perfect ablution, and then stood up to offer the prayer. I, too, got up and did as the Prophet had done. Then I went and stood by his side. He placed his right hand on my head and caught my right ear and twisted it. He prayed two Rakat then two Rakat and two Rakat and then two Rakat and then two Rakat and then two Rakat (separately six times), and finally one Rak’a (the Witr). Then he lay down again in the bed till the Mu’adhdhin came to him where upon the Prophet got up, offered a two light Rakat prayer and went out and led the Fajr prayer.
Re: Witr
Thanks for sharing. This clears any misconceptions, so both ways are prescribed in sharee’ah. Thanks.
Re: Witr
AS far as I know, Hanafis pray it 2 + 1. Meaning, it's like the maghrib prayer.

Both are correct, but it's best to stick to the method of the maddhab that you follow. Because you don't want to end up mixing rulings of different maddhabs.
Re: Witr
Peace All,
What if a person is follower of one method from one maddhab travel to another country and find pplz are followers of another method from the another maddhab. Will that person pray alone by sticking to his method that he/she follows or method or their maddhab?
Anyone would like to answer. :)
Re: Witr
While we at it..can someone advise me if Witr prayer is important to pray?..I mean i heard some people say..it is very important to pray witr. Basically..prayer won't be completed without witr..is that true??

*witr is wajib...almost as important as farz. you may delay it until tahajjud but it has got to be done before the beginning of fajr time. *
Re: Witr
fajar - 2 sunat, and 2 fard
zuhar - 4 sunnat, 4 fard, and 2 sunnat
asar - 4 fard
maghrib - 3 fard, and 2 sunnat
isha - 4 fard, 2 sunnat, and 3 witar
masla hal. :@:

Have the same question. Is it really important to follow the method in your maddhab?

*most of the time YES, but just in case if the issue is of serious nature [the consequences will be hard to bear] and the ruling is NOT permissable in your own fiqh then you are allowed to follow the ruling in the other fiqh, if it's permissible that particular fiqh. *

You can pray behind the followers of other maddhab.

Yes.
Unless you are a scholar who has the knowledge of deriving ruling from the hadiths and verses, it's best to stick to one maddhab for us laymen.
Re: Witr
Peace All,
The Four school of thoughts (i.e. Hanafi, Maliki, Sha’afi and Hanbali) said: "If their narrations (method) is over-ruled by sayings (method) of Prophet Muhammad
than theirs narration (method) should be rejected. Basically, What I wanna say here in that case, we must be aware how our Prophet
prayed the witr or ordered us to pray. If that method is correct regardless seeing first to any madhab than there is no harm to follow it.
This is how we won’t get divided in different groups.
Re: Witr
↑But, the maddhab's method is also derived from the sayings of Prohpet SAW. Of course, Imam Abu Hanifah (RA) did not make up him own method.

Any references yo?..

Incorrect, there are many masjid that does that , specially ahle hadith masajid in pakistan.
Just trying to make this factually correct , no offence :)
Re: Witr
Peace KaafHaaYaaAynSaad,
Exactly, but to know that whether the method is correcto or made up by someone, we should be fully aware how our Prophet
prayed, so there is no confusion left, if any.
