After closing the gap in what was once a 20 point edge in Ohio and Texas just 3 weeks ago for Hillary Clinton, Obama looks to make history Tuesday by be ending his final democratic opponent’s campaign. In doing so Obama wil become the first black presidential nomine come convention time from either party.
Travel back almost 4 years ago here’s what some of our guppies had to say about Obama:
*So how many of you saw Barack Obama’s speech today…A young state senator from Illinois… ……honestly, i had never heard of his name before but he was the keynote speaker for today. That took my attention. And now i have to say that this was the best speech so far…yep even better than bill clinton…The guy was simply awesome. he was simple yet articulate, brief yet convincing and just like Clinton he was able to connect with people…I really loved the way he started his speech…I predict that this guy has a great potential to be USA president one day. -*July 28th, 2004, phoenixdesi
*Obama was a good speaker, dynamic with appeal for the general public. *

I think Barack Obama will definitely be the Democratic ticket.

Obama for Prez?? LOL…White America aint ready for a brother in the WhiteHouse. Those poor souls could not even vote like until 30 yrs ago. Maybe in the future when the pop. composition of american is evenly split between whites and non-whites, then perhaps we can have a colored prez.

Re: With Hillary on the ropes, Obama looks for knockout punch this Tuesday
If Clinton wins both Texas and Ohio then she will likely continue on till April 22nd (Penn). If she loses either one of them (more likely Texas than Ohio) then she will likely withdraw and endorse Obama.
Obama, even if he loses both Ohio and TExas (with narrow margins) will keep on marching because he has a lead in delegate count, and will keep this lead all the way to the convention.
So for those who are now quite sick of the long Democratic race, are wishing that one way or the other (there is only one way, actually i.e. Clinton withdrawing) the thing should get decided, so the party can rally behind one candidate and start taking on McCain.
Problem is that in the last few days, the fight has become vicious and Obama has come under increasing scrutiny. This include wildly silly (Somalian dress pic) to the more subtle issues (why does he have an Islamic middle name and why wouldn't he want to publicize his middle name at all) and the support by Nation of Islam. If on Tuesday, voters over-whelmingly reject that these issues matter in their mind about their next President, then the issues will go away. But if it appears that if fully exploited, Obama campaign can unravel like a house of cards around suspicions over his religious background, sympathies for anti-semitism and he is made out like a manchurian candidate, then Hillary has all the reasons to stick it out till the convention and just wait for Obama machine to implode.
Re: With Hillary on the ropes, Obama looks for knockout punch this Tuesday
Since I don't like Hillary anyway, so personally it won't be a perfect election for me. Nor do I believe that Obama will ever accept to be the VP.
If he doesn't clinch the Presidential nomination, his preferred course of action will be to sit out and let Hillary be humbled by McCain in 2008. Then Obama can take on McCain in 2012 all by himself. If Hillary wins, then Obama will have to wait till 2016, but he is young enough (relatively speaking) so it won't be a catastrophe. Plus, if you ask most Hillary supporters, they'd say that they don't have anything against Obama, its just they don't believe he is experienced enough to be President at this time. 8 years will take care of this issue too.
Although, it seems more than likely that Obama will clinch the nomination in 2008. Whether he'll win or not remains to be seen. Last few days have shown that he definitely has chinks in his considerable armor.
