With friends like these, who needs enemies

point of discussion:

The first American-led jihad in Afghanistan against the Soviets gave birth to the phenomenon of Osama bin Laden and bequeathed Pakistan the twin gifts of guns and drugs. The second American-led jihad in Afghanistan, this time against the Taliban, has handed Pakistan’s mullas their greatest political victory in the nation’s history. With friends like these, who needs enemies?

go forth and discuss the merits of this statement..

would love to see where the discussion leads to.

do u mean friends who needed our support whenever it was required but they weren't there when we needed their support?

No..like friends who said one thing and did another. Like setting up terrorist training camps and aligning them selves with the taliban.

black zero

in international politics there are no friends. dont you recall that famous line about not having any permenent friends but permanent interests.

a country does not need to be buddy buddy with another, as long as they ahve mutual interests they will work well together.
