Wish to clean up Pakistan..

I have recently been on a trip to Pakistan (originally born and raised in Europe, but have been going to PK every second third year), and it raelly breaks my heart and frustrates me to see all the things which are not working, not right over there.

I was in Karachi and heard a lot about Karachi ke halaat in the news. At first I thought okay, this is just Karachi, this is just how it always used to be, but then the last day before departure, we were stuck in a traffic jam during a jalsa with my family, small children, and I couldn’t help to be a little afraid of what was going on and what could happen.

Everyone on the road just seem so frustrated and showed hatred to each other, no cars moving, people getting ut of cars yelling at each other, som rickshaw guy got hit my some other’s knuckle.. I just had enough.

This is just one side of Karachi, I know, but generally there are so many improvements needed there. Education is needed there. First it needs to be cleaned.

Why is Pakistan so dirty anyway? Is there any way to clean it up? Physically and literary I mean. I feel like starting a campaign just to clean it up.

Can anyone tell me how the recycle trash system works in PK? Where does it all go after being thrown out outside or wherever trash is thrown from houses?

Yours Sincerely,
The frustrated one

Re: Wish to clean up Pakistan..

Don’t know about Karachi but household waste in most sectors of Islamabad is collected by CDA (Capital Development Authority) trucks once or twice a week. However more improvement is needed

Re: Wish to clean up Pakistan..

Do you know more about this? Who is actually collecting the trash? Are these just boys from the streets, who have been hired to do the job (and don't do it quite well) or are there any educated people involved?

What happens to the trash it is collected?

Re: Wish to clean up Pakistan..

The trash is obviously collected by CDA personnel/manual labourers.

CDA is a proper body run by bureaucrats. Chairman CDA is a grade 22 officer (same as Federal & provincial secretaries and COAS) http://www.cda.gov.pk/about_us/wings_directorates/?dte_id=SAN&wing_id=&objid=2

Similarly you have LDA (Lahore Development Authority) etc.

It seems CJP is taking personal interest in it
