so often times its difficult to get sparkling plates and glassed when they are really greasy… even after washing them twice the greese wont fully come out …
Same goes with smells, for example egg … it lingers behind for a while …
The tip is to be patient when doing the dishes … instead of soaping them and immediately washing them … leave them aside after soaping them … give them 5-10 minutes … the greese will come off the plates and glasses when you wash them later …
Try this , it works even with the pots … just soap it up , leave aside for 5-10 minutes .. come back and wash it .. all the greese gone !
yeah apple, I soap them all up and leave them .. then I come back and do the glasses and cups first since they are delicate … then the plates and finally the spoons .. ( i hate doing the spoons and forks )
ohhh yes , them too , I dont like them .. somehow if you wash them right after cooking in them , they get washed easily , otherwise they give so much trouble and grief
I find washing glasses in cold water makes them crystal clear. For big saucepans and baking trays, I sprinkle a bit of bi-carb soda and cover with white vingear, I leave them aside for at least an hour while I clear the rest up, and then wash them with ease.
dishes/glasses/daigchee with grease and hard stains i always put them in quite hot water (not boiling as it can cause cracks but hot enough)....after about 10mins the hot water makes the grease melt and it becomes easy to wash the dishes.
Will this method (leaving the soap on dishes for 5 mins) help with the nasty egg smell too? I can’t stand that smell at all! And I have tried so many different detergents but that smell still lingers!
Saks, firstly , the egg walay bartan , dont mix them with the rest of them in the sink .. secondly wash them with cold water first … then soap them up and keep them aside for 5 minutes and then if you like, use the hot water to rinse them through ..
Basically leaving the soapy water on the dishes breaks down the greese and smells in a better way … this even works with clothes .. if stains arent going away from the whites , you leave them in the bleach or detergent for a bit and then rinse them …
A few weeks ago I grinded (ground?) cloves into powder form...usually whenever I grind masalas, I put the cup in the sink with water and soap in it....except this time, the smell just won't go away! I left it in water+detergent for many hours many times, washed it 3-4 times....but to no avail..the smell lingered. :(
if you had eggs (lets say for breakfast), leave the plate, coffee cup, spoon/forks in cold soapy water for a while, or at least wash the stuff with clod water, never with hot/warm water.
Sara, was it a plastic cup? coz if it is , then please use baking soda .. just half tsp and quarter cup water .. dip this dish into this water and let it be for half an hour .. i think that should sort out the issue ...
If its a glass container , the smell should go away with a bit of lemon ... a few drops of lemon onto the cup and rub it around the cup .. leave it for 15 - 20 minutes and that should sort it out ...
and I have just remembered another tip that i saw my friend do once ... She ground poppy seeds i think and that left a stinking smell back in the spice cup ... and she couldnt dip it in water coz the cup had a little machine attached with it ... so she just pressed old newspaper in to the cup , put the lid on and left it overnight ... take it out next day and wash it lightly with soapy water ... try this one guys and let us know if it works well ...
