Wisdom tooth

problems.

Mannn, i’m dying here. My wisdom tooth sprouted some years back but freakin hell, the darn thing is rubbing with skin in my mouth and causing swelling. And so when you get swollen skin and a wonky tooth rubbing then ouuuuuuuuuchhhh it kills.

What do i do? I know i can go dentist and have a chat with him about it but considering i haven’t been to see him for the last 4 years i’m in for a huge rollocking and i don’t want to face him :frowning:

And if i did go. He ‘might’, just might yank it out and :shudder: that’s a scary thought. Anyone had a tooth out? Temme about the pain plz.

And lastly, what should i do for the timebeing?? Remember the problem is not toothache but rather abrasion with the skin around it and hence swelling and irritation and oodles of pain.

only thing that can be done is get it out......before it turns into an abcess.

or u can wait a week or so and see if the swelling lessens. ...but even then it might come back

ps: every time i visit him, my dentist urges me to get my wisdom tooth out, but since i don't have any pains from it, i just leave it as it is...

What’s an abcess ness?? A hole in your tooth?? Mann, i think i already got one.. :teary2:

MYYYYY teeth  @ them.. :teary2:

abcess, is when all this irritation causes a build-up of debri, cell-remnants, bacteria etc.....it will cause more swelling and then the only way to remove it is surgery.

so, i suggest u have a check-up by ur dentist. it is the best thing in the long-run. and also ask him if it is really necessary to remove the wisdom teeth

SCAAARRRYYYYYYY ! :gulps:

I will a.s.a.p.

Thanxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I had 3 of my wisdom teeth pulled out a couple of years back. It was .... an experience!

2 of them were already grown. The dentist had to inject me a few times with numbing medication cause I kept feeling him tugging at my teeth (I recommend you get put out during the surgery). It hurt, I screamed but eventually it was over. The teeth were really long...nearly 2 inches when he took the entire thing out.

Anyway, I had to have stitches put in my gums for a week. By the next day though, I was fine. I had no swelling or bruising. :)

You should get them taken out. If you don't, they will start shifting the rest of your teeth causing more long-term problems.

You're a bonafide Brit!

Please go to the dentist and have him take it out. Just ignoring it would cause more pain and suffering. Imagine, if you don't fix it now and it gets aggravated on your wedding night. Just imagine.

Double D, get it out asap :) It ll start hurting even more.

U wont feel anything when they get it out, it ll only bleed for several hours and voila u ll be fine :biggthumb

p.s. Do it asap, before it eating will get painfull :)

I had mine pulled out a few months ago. Go to a sedation dentist. Mine gave me a couple of sleeping tablets before the procedure and I did not feel a thing.

Are they really supposed to be pulled out?

I am having a lot of pain with mine.

If you have enough room in your mouth for them to grow in properly, then you don't need to have them removed. If you don't have enough space, however, if you don't get them pulled, they can mess up your teeth by pushing all the other teeth (including your front teeth) and mess them up in order to make space. Or, they will grow in sideways and cause aggravation that way.

Go to the dentist and have them pulled out if they are hurting.

Mehnaz, :teary2: :teary2: the big shift has already begun. I have been wondering that one of my lower front teeth was a lil wonkier than it had been and now it ALL makes sense. Dratted things, i’m gona have my dentist pull both out. It’s not on..hogging all that space and causing so much freakin damage whilst they’re at it.:mad2:

PS: Do we have an option of being put out?? OR does the dentist decide whats appropriate in your case? :scary:

Funguy, well darn you. You ever questioned my bona-fide-ness?? And about the wedding night, i think it’d be a blessing in disguise :stuck_out_tongue:

Aishaa will do. How long are you asleep for though? I don’t wana be knocked out for a couple of hours..man i could be surfing GS insteadd !! J’ya know what i mean…

Prexxy, babes. Anything for ya

Thanx babes, you are such a huge help

i got two of mine pulled out recently.

Aisha, i did not know that they can put u to sleep before the removal.
My dentist sent me back the first time as i went in with an empty stomach, he was afraid i might go down after the injects.

some tips that might help:

Have a good sleep before u go, cause it might bleed for hours after the procedure and u wont feel comfortable sleeping with all that bleeding.

Have a full meal, cause the bleeding will make u weak.

Very Important: DONT look at the dentist's tools !

Keep ready ur stock of favourite icecreams..

:)

Most dentists prefer giving numbing injections instead of putting you out. Ultimately though, it is your decision. I had to have at least 4 injections put in and I could STILL feel it. Eventually, the doctor was going to put me out but he ended up giving me a 5th injection which worked!!!

Tell us how it goes!! :)

DD tht sounds soo painful......

But im gettin worried, im 20 and no sign of tht wisdom tooth of mine:(

Pakis_Rock, awwww. Sweety thanks for coming out of hibernation to post me those tips. Mann, the bleeding bit is putting me off. I might just not go in afterall :stuck_out_tongue: jk. For the sake of saving my remaining teeth i might just opt for it :frowning:

Mehnazzzzzzzzzi, :cringe: Sounds awful, i’m such a chicken i’ll probs end up not going. I think i’ll ask to be heavily sedated before he does anything of the sort..i will let you know what happens, should be fun.

Sharara, don’t be worried. CELEBRATE love !!!

There are several dentists in the US that will put you to sleep before starting any procedure. For people like me it is a blessing. I would have run screaming out if any dentist tried to give me 5 injections!

I went in about 45 mins before the procedure was to start and took two of those sleeping pills. I wasn't sleeping but very dazed and don't remember much of what happened next. Since I ended up sleeping for over 10 hours when I got home, I did not feel anything even after the numbness from the injections wore off.

Aisha that was good. For me, after the procedure the doctor had to give me another shot at the back. :)

believe me the injections are not so painful as long as u dont see the instrument in the doctors hand.

Sharara, jab wisdom ai gi tau tooth be aa jai ga (j/k).
