what do u think of wisdom tooth? did u have one? should it be extracted whether it pains or not? whats the mystery behind this wisdom tooth?share ur views, experiences…
Re: wisdom tooth
Mine are impacted or whatever they call it and many years ago my dentist gave me an antibiotic prescription and asked me to return for extraction if they hurt again. No problems since then. Thus far. Knock on wood.
Re: wisdom tooth
I had to have all four of my wisdom teeth pulled out because my mouth was too small and they would have started to push my other teeth if I had left them in. When the wisdom teeth come out, for some its painful but for others it is not. My dentist recommended i get them taken out...even though they hadn't fully come out. The whole process doesn't sound very pleasant...he had to actually cut into my gums to extract the teeth and then stitch them up.....but they put you to sleep. My cheeks were swollen for about a week and was given some Vicatin for the pain (suprisingly i didn't really need it).
Talk to your dentist about it..not everyone needs them extracted :)
Re: wisdom tooth
^ i wish i had been to the dentist regularly, he/she would have done the same for me and i wouldn't have had the problems i ended up having. i look after my teeth really well and have never even had a filling so when we moved house i didn't even think to register with a local dentist. anyway, both upper and lower wisdom teeth on one side were impacted. the lower one had caused a gum flap which got infected - pain! i had to have antibiotics to clear up the infection and then have them both removed. then, probably because i tried to spit the blood too much out or rinsed too much, the lower socket became empty instead of blood clotting in it. i don't think i have ever experienced worse pain than this (yet). the dentist had to fill it up with a dressing soaked in clove oil, which absolutely stinks and people can smell you a mile away.
that's my story. i really wish i had them removed before they came up. if i had been to the dentist more regularly he would have been able to advise me before they caused a problem. i had braces during my teens and therefore perfectly straight teeth. the wisdoms made everything at the front shift slowly, so they are no longer as straight :(
Re: wisdom tooth
mine are functional. So the dentist decided to leave them in there.
