wireless

how do u set up wireless internet??? it says it has good connection but there are no available networks…so then how does it have good connection? Also how does wireless work when u have DSL but there is more than one comp but only one modem…

Re: wireless

It depends what you mean by wireless internet.

You can purchase broadband wireless internet access from companies like Verizon, which would give you connection in almost any area in the US.

Then there is WI-FI, which is basically local area wireless networks that connect to a land line and give you wireless signal to get on to be able to surf the net. These are called "hot spots" often found in airports, coffee shops, etc. and then there are wireless networks within your own neighborhood and often times you can get on those to surf the net.

If you have internet at home and you want to be able to use your laptop anywhere in the home to connect to the internet then you would need a wireless router or wireless access point hooked up to your existing setting (router or modem given by your internet provider).

In your case, you have DSL? Then you would need a WIRELESS ROUTER which would allow your laptop to connect to the internet as well as connect other PCs to it either wireless or wired.

Re: wireless

well i have verizon dsl and we have the router so u can plug in many different ethernet cables into and it also has a sign thing for wireless....but wireless doesn't work....so how do i make it work????

Re: wireless

pyaari - Make sure your wireless is set to "on" on your laptop. Then you simply find your wireless router & connect to it.

Re: wireless

Have you configured the router, Try doing that and connect PC with it through cable.
- If cable works then you need to set up SSID and WEP with key.

Re: wireless

don't worry my wireless is ON! It sasy wireless connection: excellent....but there are no available networks.....and how do u setup SSID and WEP???

Re: wireless

Well you need to configure your router first. The SSID differentiates one WLAN from another WEP on the other hand is designed to provide the same level of security as that of a wired LAN. You should click refresh and you'll see a list of networks pop up.

Re: wireless

P83, could you make a printscreen and post it here?

Re: wireless

If its a brand new access point you don't need to do any configuration, just plug it in and it will come up in ur wireless application on your laptop with the SSID being the name of the brand (e.g. Linksys, Netgear etc).

Re: wireless

well i am trying to connect to the internet with wireless while the ethernet cable is in....still doing no good...

Re: wireless

it says cannot find server…so now what?

Re: wireless

:D

Oke, on your keyboard there is a button which says: printscreen/Prnt Scrn or something like this.
After every action press that button, open paint and paste it there with: Ctrl+v Save this file on your HD as a JPG/jpeg file.
Do this after every action and save all the files and when you are done upload to gs.

Re: wireless

Why don't u just send the laptop and access point to DP, he will set it all up and send it back to you. :p

Re: wireless

^ ya good idea....:D

Thanks DP for all the info....how many print screens do u want me to save?

Re: wireless

Better yet, why don't u send him a ticket so he can come there and get it configured? :)
