Wireless Sound - PC to Home Stereo

my pc/sound card was hard wired -out to my home stero system in my previous homes so this wasn’t an issue before. In my new home, my study room/home office is far from my family room and I don’t want a run a wire. And I am way too lazy to burn cds. I want my mp3 songs playlist on my personal media player/winamp play music through my home stereo system wirelessly. what are my options?

I googled it and there are a number of ways to do it (wireless router/media player combo, radio fm transmintter, wireless speakers, etc) I am confused as to what is the easiest and least expensive way to accomplish this and yet receive decent quality sound. any folks out there with some experience in this regard?

Re: Wireless Sound - PC to Home Stereo

wireless speakers "kit" is most affordable... everything else is slightly on the expensive scale...

Re: Wireless Sound - PC to Home Stereo

Here is D-Link’s solution for wireless media.

Re: Wireless Sound - PC to Home Stereo

Thanks. My current router is a wired router that I got with Verizon FIOS (fiber optics internet connection). It seems that if I need to go this route (wireless media player), the first thing I would need to do would be to add a wireless router.

Re: Wireless Sound - PC to Home Stereo

^yeah ... true that... i guess faizy's idea of wireless speakers will be most economical then

Re: Wireless Sound - PC to Home Stereo

yeah with tha idea though, I will be playing the sound on those speakers instead of my home sound system.

how about those radio fm transmitters?

Re: Wireless Sound - PC to Home Stereo

would be crappy AM quality but hey.. it’s free! and has a nerdy wow factor..

Re: Wireless Sound - PC to Home Stereo

wat if the speakers give output to connect to ur home sound system ...
e.g. my speakers at work can give output to my headphones.

Re: Wireless Sound - PC to Home Stereo

That might work. Do you think that the output from the speaker would be RCA outputs?

Re: Wireless Sound - PC to Home Stereo

hmmm... gud question...
how abt getting a rca converter if it doesn't have rca output. that shouldn't be too expensive...

Re: Wireless Sound - PC to Home Stereo

the voice quality will drastically reduce when using an RCA converter. I have done that in the past when my VCR wasn’t a HIFI one loong time ago.

Re: Wireless Sound - PC to Home Stereo

oh ok.. lets hope we can find one with RCA output.. i will look for it too

Re: Wireless Sound - PC to Home Stereo

How’s this service Asif? Its not available in my area, but sounds pretty good.

Re: Wireless Sound - PC to Home Stereo

FIOS from what i've gathered tofi, is amaaaaaaaaazing!

Re: Wireless Sound - PC to Home Stereo

I am getting 5+ mbits per second for $32.00. This is there cheapest residential plan. $10 more and the next upgrade it 15 mbits. There fastest connection is 30 mbits. I am very happy with the service, about four times faster than the T1 line they have at my workplace.

Re: Wireless Sound - PC to Home Stereo

^ wow...

its not available in my area either :(

Re: Wireless Sound - PC to Home Stereo

it all depends where the 'dead' fibre optics were installed initially.. thats why its limited..

Re: Wireless Sound - PC to Home Stereo

That’s what i’ve “gathered” too
I’m thinking of moving just cuz of this. With my current cable-modem internet we get bursts upto 7-8 mbps too.

Actually it should be a pretty good redundancy option at work. 30 mbps for under $200, how cool is that. Can we request static IPs? Compare this to a T3 costs!

Re: Wireless Sound - PC to Home Stereo

:HICHIR MICHIR start karnay wala icon: :bummer: i was ABOUT to say that static ip thing…

yar i know its great inconvenience, but i would take it if dynamix were the only option available
