Wireless Router - Security Issue

Hi, we have a wireless router in our house which provides internet to all the laptops in our house.

The admin computer is my dads desktop.

I was wondering if there is anyway my dad can monitor from the admin computer what websites the rest of us in the network access on our computers without actually logging into out computers?

Is there any software or anything which can allow him to monitor our internet activity?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Wireless Router - Security Issue

nahh ... i donno such kinda thing ..

i think only possible way is to make server / client setup

or by adding spywares to all of comps ..

U r asking solution or making sure that he isn't monitoring u ???

You will need a gateway, just before that router.

Check Untangle.com, get an old PC and install on that and configure the webfilter, reports.

If not then install monitoring software on each laptop and have the software email your dad keystrokes, screenshots of the screen every 2, 5, 10 minutes, etc. :D

Re: Wireless Router - Security Issue

^^ they can.. though I dont know what router is being used and what kind of logs are being taken in it.

Re: Wireless Router - Security Issue

easily done. openWRT.

Re: Wireless Router - Security Issue

if IE/firefox history is stored somewhere in a file(not sure if it is) you can set 'sharing' onto the PCs and grant the admins access to the share path

but then again..this is an overly simple answer, I'm sure there are better solutions out there.

Re: Wireless Router - Security Issue

What if he has an account with OpenDNS ? He'll know each and every site you went to :D
