I’m in the market for one… anyone have any suggestions from personal experiences?
primary use will be for two cell phones, a bluetooth car visor device, and an mp3 player.
Re: Wireless/Portable Charging Mats
Good for you LC. I’m in the market for a new house.
Re: Wireless/Portable Charging Mats
dont you have to have a special skin for all those devices so their battery can be charged using the mat?
Re: Wireless/Portable Charging Mats
I don’t see the point of a power mat…as far as i am aware, for most items, you have to purchase a separate “sleeve” for the electrical item…or are there mats available now where you just simply place the item onto it?? ![]()
Nice idea, but i don’t think i’ll be purchasing one till manufacturers agree on a “target hotspot” standard. I’ll stick to wires for now ![]()
Oh, and to answer your question… i know of one person who uses the “powermat”…
that is what I said ![]()
show-off
- thread derailer… (good luck with house hunting).
TLK/Maroush… I know the sleeves are a hassle and that’s what’s currently keeping me from investing in a mat. I was just hoping someone who’s used it might convince me otherwise, or offer an alternative suggestion.
Re: Wireless/Portable Charging Mats
It looks like that the company is releasing battery packs for cellphones so no jacket required .
I clicked the reply button when LC’s original post was the only one in the thread…i wrote my reply…walked off…came back…clicked the post button, and yours and Tofi’s post appeared above mine. ![]()
Wait, why am i justifying myself!! ![]()
I just did a quick search for the Powermat - it costs £70 JUST for the mat. I have an iPhone…so i’d have to purchase a compatibility sleeve for it - that’s another £35.
So i’d be paying over 100 smackeroonies…when a wired iPhone charger can be purchased for as little as £2.
This product has the potential to be something awesome, but at the moment, it’s just not worth it. I’d put the money to use for something else… ![]()
Re: Wireless/Portable Charging Mats
^ yep after some research, I’m reaching the same conclusion… for now I’ll make my own mat - not wireless but then from the looks of it none of these so-called portable mats are truely wireless anyways.
May be buy a surge extension bar, a nice mat and cut some aperture holes and to run wires through the mat to the extension bar and place it somewhere where the wires will be hidden - voila
- I guess I’m doing what I did for wire management for my home entertainment units.
Re: Wireless/Portable Charging Mats
That’s the conclusion I reached too. Considering that you have to spend on all the attachments and then get more work done. Only to find that its not a good neighborhood.
I’m staying in my current house!!
