Wireless internet connection problem..

hello guys..

the laptop im on is of my uncle’s..and his OS is windows xp home edition.. this laptop catches so many wireless internet connection… and has very strong signals coming from different places (included the one at home)…

the laptop that i have is HP pavillion dv2000 and it has windows vista installed in it… and it does not catch many connections and even if it does.. it gets disconnected if u take it to different room..’

my question is that..does it has something to do with the operating systems? cuz my laptop is a new one..i bought it a year ago..it is suppose to have better wireless connection than the one im on right now thats like 3 years old… so what exactly is causing my laptop to not have strong signals? any idea people?.. dont u think if i install win xp pro on my laptop .. it’ll run faster and may as well have strong wireless internet connections?

Re: Wireless internet connection problem..

what is your uncle's laptop model and brandf? i have dv1000 and it is excellent wireless connectivity wise.

Re: Wireless internet connection problem..

nope ... it doesnt matter about ur OS

all u need is ... refresh it again n again

and check the channel setting and Encrpted Keys.

Re: Wireless internet connection problem..

dont buy cheap router

Re: Wireless internet connection problem..

ok,,, first of all you need to check the hardware drivers of your wireless card ( mostly Intel) on the laptop which is having problem..

Secondly check the properties of Wireless card ( device manageer>wireless card>properties>Advanced)

  1. If Throughput Enhancement is enabled or not. 2. Power Mmanagment is Medium or Highest 3. AdHoc Channel, ( this should be 1/6/11) or you will keep on facing disconnection due to overlapping of other channels.

Cheers
