I’ve always wanted a summer wedding. But my fiance doesn’t want to wait til next summer, and would like it to be by the end of this year, in November! Being a girl, I hate compromising on my wedding plans! Although I feel for him too. So now I’m considering the whole winter wedding idea. My question is, has anyone here had a winter wedding? I’m afraid the winter is going to be a major setback for guests as it’s freezing outside. There won’t be nice outdoor shoots either with flowers or anything Only plus that I’ve heard of is the pricing difference. But is there really THAT much of a difference in pricing?
I don’t want to say no to a winter wedding if it means so much to him. I just need some convincing, haha
I don't think it makes a difference, my cousin got married when it was sub zero temperatures ( i.e it was light snowing not settling) in december and we all wore half sleeves, the only thing was our make up survived and she looked quite hot when she was stepping out of the card when the cold hit her face :) if you know what i mean! it look wow.
Other than that its just colder days , and it gets dark quicker so pick a venue with good entrance lighting for barat or make sure the videographers use their bright lights!!
Im getting married this november too~ thanksgiving weekend inshallah. Like you, i am very upset about the whole thought of a winter wedding. The thought of guests coming in coats..and then laying them on the seats just appalls me~
and yea price ranges vary in the winter. either their more expensive or cheap as hell.
However..make the best of it..and make it a winter wonderland..or fall color theme wedding with amber/maroons/plum color decor!
Try to have the wedding in the fall! You will have amazing outdoor shoots with all the pretty colours, the weather will still be pleasant also. December is ok too, but avoid Jan - March. The weather is just tooo unpredictable. Not sure where you live but the last thing you want is a giant snow storm on your wedding day. On my cousin's wedding day in March 2008, Toronto was hit with such an intense snow storm so many of the guests didn't come!
Ppl think halls are cheaper in December, but remember that lot of company's host their Xmas parties at that time, so really Jan will be the cheaper month.
Im actually thinking of going for a autumn/winter wedding- by CHOICE!
Many reasons behind it, but the main one being cost!!
And boy is it cheaper! I have been asking around for venue prices etc, and they are considerably cheaper during the off peak season- they cut the price by hundreds if not by a whole thousand! some venues are stubborn on the face of it but if u go deep enough I;m sure they'll crack under the pressure!
To be honest, a wedding lasts for a day, it's the marriage that counts! just make sure you got a good photographer and make sure people you care about are there, and leave all else to Allah!
Oh and the coats issue- ive been to some weddings when its been bloody freezing- most people leave their coats in the car and rush to the venue! In extreme cases I've seen is a sweater or shawl!
LOL! Guys are stupid, throw rocks at them :P kidding.. worrying about your wedding isn't materialistic. Especially in the case of a winter wedding, I want people to actually SHOW up
But, thank you for the feedback girls. I'm actually thinking of a nice winter wonderland theme as well :) A skyblue, silver and deep red theme! Let's see how it goes :D We haven't decided on the season yet, but I hope that whatever we decide is in our best interest InshAllah
november is a good month for a winter wedding! the chances of a crazy snowstorm ruining things is pretty minimal compared to dec/jan/feb. plus you can have coat check and guests can use that for their coats so you don't have to worry about people leaving their stuff everywhere. the colours you've chosen sound gorgeous and you can add lots of crystals and candles to really make it stand out. also, yes, winter weddings are much cheaper- wait till you start booking vendors and you'll see :)
